How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

No amenities besides a restaurant and conference room. The booking said breakfast was included but the only option was a sit down restaurant that cost us an extra $70.

The bathroom door was not framed well. To close the door you had to push very hard. When you opened the door there was an alarming noise and the front panel of the door was flapping off the door. Cleaning was not great. There was a dark stain on the top of the sheets on the bad. Were the sheets changed? Looking behind the bedside table there was a LOT of dust - not cleaned in a very long time.
Comfortable bed. Air conditioning.

Advertised as providing breakfast on booking.com. Hotel refused us breakfast saying they’d asked booking.com to remove it 4 times from the ad. Clerk said it was our problem and to take it up with booking.com. I messaged customer service 3 days ago: no response Funny thing tho is we stayed here a month ago, also booked with booking.com, and breakfast was provided. Same rate both instances.

Everything was fine and all staff were informative and friendly until our last day! Encountered a rude older woman at the main desk who didn’t want to help me with ferry sailings and told me she was very busy! 10 seconds later another guest began speaking with the front desk person who had plenty of time to speak with her!

Front desk staff was excellent and helpful, kind and friendly. Same with the Pub.
Everything was good, the hallway smelled and that would be my only feedback.

The front desk person at check-in wasn't very helpful when checking in. Seemed to lack the typical customer service skills. A different employee had to get her attention to come to the front desk and she didn't direct us in any way of where the rooms were located. We figured it out and it didn't tarnish our stay but that was the only negative part of our experience at this hotel.
The staff we met were helpful and kind (except 1) the location was great and the rooms were very clean.

just a bit dated but hey it is Powell River not Paris.
It was ok, not more then a work place trip just needed a place to shower and rest. We were working 12 hour shifts so no social events. Didn't have time to do breakfast

Shower heads are very short, I’m 5’5” and I had to duck for the water to get the top of my head. Water stains on the shower curtain. Towels are very small and toilet paper is awful. Bring your own toilet paper unless you want to feel like you’re sanding your nether regions. Disappointed by the fact we were not informed that we could not get breakfast with our $5 voucher during our stay due to a Thanksgiving Brunch. Continental breakfast was great for my toddler.
The proximity to stores and the town centre. Quiet even though in a central location. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff.

I wanted to use the access to Anytime Fitness that came with the hotel however I didn’t have a 50$ bill for the key fob deposit. I also only had a credit card so was unable to take out cash. I was really disappointed I couldn’t use the gym. I think being able to put a 50$ hold on the credit card used for the room would be useful for all guests. It’s 2024, most people don’t carry cash on them… there’s no reason you can’t just charge 50$ to my room if the key fob wasn’t returned.
Location was good and central and the continental breakfast was good to have when I needed to be out of the hotel quickly in the morning. The staff was friendly and the check in and out process was simple.

Very surprised to find you had to pay for a cup of tea extra if you had the cooked breakfast when it was free with the free continental breakfast - weird and annoying

Pillows were so thick they were unusable. Quite a bit of noise from people outside late at night due to its location.
Building is older but in very good clean shape. Great value for the price paid. The free breakfast was very basic but still appreciated.
