Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bed was a little too soft for me. However, this was immediately sorted by the staff and was much better.
The hotel has a quirky vibe, which I loved. The lobby / bar area has a very relaxed feel and has lots of games - giant connect 4, jenga, noughts and crosses, to name a few. We loved playing these and watching other people enjoying them. The gym facilities were excellent for a hotel gym. I was impressed that they had peloton bikes

CanadaThe jets weren’t working in the hot tubs unfortunately but they were still hot. The beds were a bit uncomfortable. Just on the firmer side. My partner and I tossed and turned a bit more than normal.
Great aesthetic! The vibe is beautiful! Love the welcome drinks, the games and lots of lounge space with games. Rooms are very well decorated!

CanadaThe hotel bar was often littered with glassware and dirty dishes, making it difficult to enjoy the space that they clearly worked hard on making a 'stay-a-while' lounging spot for guests. The bar staff were often times chatting, or otherwise not busy, leaving zero excuse for the state of the common area. I approached one of the staff members on multiple occasions and she seemed pretty inconvenienced by my reasonable request to bus areas that we wanted to sit and visit. We left skiing one morning and there was a literal empty carton of milk (likely from a guest with small children) sitting on one of the side tables. When we returned, said milk jug was still there. My only other issue was the "movie night" they host on Thursdays. The entire lobby was subjected to it, without leaving any space for guests wanting to sit and visit. The volume was shockingly loud, using a large speaker system they set up in addition to the built in audio system. I should note that I'm a DJ, and thusly, pretty desensitized to noise - so when I say it was too loud, it holds water. I felt so lame having to be 'that person', asking them to turn it down, but it was so insane that the choice was that, or leave the hotel to have drinks elsewhere. We really wanted to chill in the cool space we were paying to experience which I don't feel is a lot to consider on their behalf. Few oversights. Very fixable.
Very mid-mod stylized boutique with great overall design aesthetic. The rooms are cute and cozy. I loved the small housekeeping cabinets on each floor that had backup towels and toiletry items for grabs, short of having to call the front desk. The welcome drinks were also a great touch.

CanadaNo water pressure and it was hard to get a warm shower in the morning. Bed was quite hard and not very comfortable but I appreciated the set-up and use of space in the room.
Cool vibe on the main floor lobby and I liked the overall design of the room. Staff was helpful when there was only one bike left and went and found us a second one so we could ride around town together.

United StatesThe size of the rooms are tiny and the bathroom doors are transparent. It isn't a good idea to stay here if you're traveling with older kids and sharing a room.
I liked the cleanliness of the hotel as it was brand new. The location is outside of city center but it is so easy to call a cab. We were told there is a shuttle that comes to the gas station next door that takes you to the city center for a nominal fee. We didn't use it but saw it a few times.

CanadaThis may seem like a small thing to most people, but I didn’t like that the King rooms only had beds which were accessible on 1 side. This meant I had to climb over my partner in the middle of the night to get to the bathroom. The rooms are also super small, but this was okay as we were out in the mountains all day.
The property atmosphere was great! Very geared toward the traveller who appreciates a nice lobby bar and social setting. They had live music and lots of people enjoying after hike beers by the pool.

CanadaThe location obviously isn't the best in Banff, but it is easy enough to walk, drive, or bus to get to the main downtown area for shops and restaurants.
The new Moxy hotel is a great place to spend the weekend in Banff. We loved the heated outdoor pool and the bar/lounging area in the lobby. The gym was great (with peloton). Very dog friendly!

United StatesThe room. Also there wasn’t a proper restaurant but just a food truck. On vacation you want to eat at a nice restaurant and not from a food truck.
The location was very inconvenient compared to other hotels that we moved to after the first night at Moxy. The room was like a dorm room with no shelves or dresser to keep your clothes in. No coffee maker or kettle in the room. The bathroom door was flimsy with no privacy from your partner. The bed was uncomfortable with no side table to keep your things on. Overall not a place that I would stay in.
