How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Expensive for one person and no real soap, only hand sanitizer. The noisy thing in the upstairs window - an air conditioner? - was noisy and seemingly unnecessary
I loved the location across from the town square. I liked the clean simple room and common kitchen and living room.

Communication with Kim was great. She gave us the tour. Le Cheval Noir is a great place. Super clean, very comfortable beds, spacious rooms, LOTS of places to plug your phone to charge, kitchen fully equipped with breakfast included and lots of coffee. Thanks!

Hostel type, was not aware of the sharing of my bathroom with a queen bed room. Not sure if the main door to the second floor gets locked for security, was a bit nervous that someone could come into the second floor to access other parts other than our locked bedroom
As a hostel style accommodation it has a common room and a huge shared kitchen.

Regarding this reservation... yes we cancelled it late BUT... we waited hours in Trois Pistoles to check in within their specified times... once there, nobody was there to check us in. We left two phone messages asking for explanation. Neither was returned then or later.. Nowhere in the reservation/confirmation did it say it would be a contactless hotel. We booked other hotel and they stated this in their first paragraph. It took reading a very long email confirming the reservation, and reminding us when to check in, etc. to find that it was going to be contactless. By then we had left. I find this to be very unprofessional on the part of the hotel, It shows laziness and no care for the customer since they'll get paid anyway. They are not up front and they are deceiving.

No hand soap in the bathroom. Shared bathroom. Would be very helpful if email instructions could also be sent in English for non Francophones.

Only 1 shower for 6 rooms of 14 peoples. 2 toilet, with only 2 roll of paper... Super noisy all the night. An hostel for 145$ the night, breakfast not included, I call it a tourist trap...

That was the worst place i ever seen and i try to cancel it but they didn't want to refund me. There was no washroom in the room, no tv, no fridge, air conditioner and more. it was so bad an ugly, we had to go rent another room in an deferent Motel. The picture was showing 2 queen beds, but instead it was 2 bunks bed.

Kim was very nice with us. The place is very clean, with very respectful guests and a really nice atmosphere that makes you feel like at home. It's perfect If you have to take the ferry to cross the river.

Some supplies were lacking -- no cleaning supplies in the bathroom, no paper towels or napkins in the kitchen. Each person was expected to do their own dishes in the kitchen but would have preferred disposable utensils and plates and bowls. Food was plentiful and good quality.

An old house that has been thoroughly and well renovated: the windows are new, the floors and many other aspects. Everything is clean and welcoming, owing to an attention to details and an efficient organization. The owner is an amazing person. Expect a very pleasant and comfortable stay.

Our stay at LE CHEVAL NOIR was great. The staff is incredibly kind and our room was very nice and clean. All public rooms (washrooms, kitchen, living room) are both very spacious and clean. There even were food and drinks in the kitchen. We can definetely recommend LE CHEVAL NOIR and will choose it again, when we will be back in this area.
