How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Dear Steve, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I have read your comments carefully, and as the homeowner, I am both sorry and a little disappointed about your experience. First, regarding the quiet hours, please note that my property has a designated quiet period from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. During this time, the environment is kept calm and peaceful, which I believe was respected. Second, about the air conditioner, I understand your concern. I am planning to remove it soon, so that the window can be freely opened for fresh air. This will avoid any noise and also save unnecessary electricity costs. Third, regarding the bathroom, the listing page clearly indicates that the room comes with a private bathroom, located directly across from the bedroom. It seems this detail may have been overlooked when booking, and I apologize for any confusion. As for the cleanliness, I kindly remind all guests to please remove outdoor shoes before entering the room. The carpet is cream-colored and gets dirty very easily. I hope you can understand this important house rule. Regarding the price, your booking cost a total of CAD 120.48, which included: • CAD 19.48 commission to Booking.com • CAD 12.21 in taxes • CAD 26.85 cleaning fee The actual room rate I received was only CAD 81.37. Considering this is a standard double room with a private bathroom, professional bedding setup, and air conditioning, I believe it is a very fair price, especially during this time of inflation. Dear guest, I truly value your stay, but I also feel your expectations may be much stricter than what is reasonable for this type of accommodation. The only one thing i can come up with is that you can hear people walking upstairs. But it really dod not bother us at all.

Dear valued guests, thank you for your booking! If you don't feel well, I'll improve immediately! I think you are a cultured and punctual person! My room check-in time is from 3pm to 11.30pm, and the last check-out time for guests the night before is 11am, I need enough time to clean the room and wash the bedding! So I was still washing the futon at that time, and the room was not ready! Occasionally, there are guests like you who want to check in early and check out late for free. Sometimes the rooms are very dirty and take a lot of time to deal with! It was just around 2pm when you arrived, and my room hadn't been cleaned yet! In other cases, I happened to have a cold at that time, and two dogs with skin allergies made an appointment to see a doctor... You heard the guest talking at the time, probably the guest who checked in the day before or a few days ago, because I had 4/5 rooms - with 9 beds! And in today's inflationary times, do you know where to buy household and cleaning products cheaper? That might go down a bit, and the little money I make can only last on my Costco credit card bill! I provided free items: kitchen; Oil and salt, various condiments, tea, coffee, sugar, ice. Napkins, kitchen paper, pots and pans, cups, chopsticks, knives and forks... Toilet; 24-hour hot shower, toilet paper, cotton swabs, cotton pads, toothpicks, fragrance, ultraviolet disinfection toilet and guest room equipment, soap, hand soap, shampoo, body soap, bathrobe slippers, bath flowers... Guest room; Quilt, bed sheets and bedding 3-piece set, summer cool quilt, blanket, 3 pillows for 3 hours per bed, decorative pillows, fragrance, tissues, makeup remover cotton, electric blankets, hot water bottles, small electric heaters to use, electric fans magazine secretary, high-speed Internet reinforcement equipment in the bedroom, makeup mirror, computer desk, chair lamp, bedside lamp... Living room; Equipped with 70-inch LCD TV, hundreds of books, comfortable sofa for 3 people and comfortable chaise longue, piano, 1.5-meter luxury dining table and work table, spacious and comfortable decoration design fashion trend bohemian style, two bedrooms and two living rooms I am trying to provide a warm home for friends around the world on the road, although I am very hard to earn profits from Weibo, but I am still happy, cynthia at least a little contribution to the world!
