Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsVery old , very small bathroom Owner has a know it all attitude Breakfast is supposed to start at 8, in reality the room opens at 8:00 and you have to wait until you are served. If you need to leave early, better to not have breakfast there

CanadaIt took a while to get used to the property manager/owner. He initially offended me, to be honest, had it not been my family waiting in the car eagerly to check me in ASAP, I'd have simply walked off the property, and disputed about refund. But eventually, it turned out he is very playful and we got used to him. The place is little rusty, not a typical hotel, but an old building modified to accommodate guests, You'll surely feel like you're living in your old grandparents house but kitchen was newly upgraded.
Location is the prime benefit of this hotel, breakfast was good, big room with comfortable kitchen and bathroom.

United StatesOthers have mentioned this, but the stairs are pretty narrow and steep, so just something to be aware of if you have mobility issues. Wasn't a problem for us.
Loved talking with the host, who was quite the character. Gave us lots of great suggestions of places to see and things to do. We weren't expecting this, but he even provided a selection of gluten free breads / toast for our son, once we told him. Best to notify him in advance if this applies to you. Room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Location was terrific. Within walking distance to everything. Would definitely stay here again.

AustraliaNot a complaint but narrow steep stairs if you are walking impaired. Are you ready for the host? Nothing can prepare you for the host! (not for people who dislike banter and teasing)
A well run old school B&B with a most amazing breakfast and a highly cultured but quirky Quebec guy in charge. Convenient to main train and bus station.

CanadaThese notes hardly take away from my very positive review but I should point out that the bathroom is showing its age but still functioned well and there was a slight stale cigarette smell in the non-smoking room which is something that I don’t enjoy. Everything else was excellent.
The proprietor was the highlight. I really enjoy dry wit so he made our trip fun during our conversations. He has a strict entry deadline and he made that clear and I was relieved he was there right up to the end time. The sheets were crisp and clean. The room decor was underwhelming in itself but provided all of the amenities. Our host, Gerard, provided a lovely continental breakfast in the morning and he proudly shared that he made the strawberry compote himself (a nice touch). I would certainly return

United StatesThe breakfast was excellent. The bed was excellent. The tub and shower were not so great. The shower had no curtain/enclosure making it a chilly experience. The tub drain would not seal making it impossible to take a bath.

AustraliaWe booked the 2 bedroom suite and it wasn't clear that the bathroom was only accessible through bedroom 1. The person in B2 had to walk through B1 to get to the bathroom. The only TV was in B1.
The location of the hotel is excellent. It is walking distance to the train station, cruise terminal and old town. There is a supermarket down the street. The breakfast is very good. The beds were comfortable. The owner is quirky, but helpful.

United StatesThe stairs to the room, narrow. I would suggest a curtain around the tub/whirlpool to prevent water from coming in, and also for privacy. Would have liked to the fridge to be inside the room.

New ZealandOur room was on the first floor facing the street we had a perfect view into the opposite apartment building and could see people laying in bed and strolling around in their underwear. There were no net curtains or blinds on our windows so most of the time we had to draw the curtains to maintain our privacy. There was no kettle or coffee maker in the room which was very disappointing. The room was clean on the surface but it was best not to look too closely.
The location was good. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was tasty but some variety would have been nice. Gerald's breakfast routine could be quite entertaining but probably not to everyone's taste. The availability of channels on the TV was great just what was needed after spending the day walking up and down Quebec old town.
