Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaWe had a wonderful stay at Fairholme Manor for our wedding! Sylvia and her staff were lovely and attentive hosts and helped make our stay seamless and enjoyable! The room was impeccable with high ceilings and an amazing bathtub. Breakfast in their dining room was prompt and delicious! The manor was full of character and the best was the sweet deer roaming around the property!

United StatesLack of air conditioning made the room warm even with windows open. Provided box fan was not powerful and loud. Lack of screens on windows let bugs in. Luckily not too many mosquitoes. No blackout curtains, sunrise at 5:30 am.
Centrally located. Garden and surrounding areas were idyllic. Deer in the yard was a bonus. Delicious breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful view from 2nd story.

United KingdomThe kitchen units in our room were showing their age and the kitchen tap was a bit of a mystery as to where was hot or cold. Minor things which didn't really bother us.
Beautiful house with great views towards the Olympic mountains. Sylvia and Christina were excellent hosts. Our room was lovely, large, airy and nicely furnished. We enjoyed time on the balcony taking in the view and watching the deer in the garden. Breakfast was delightful with homemade cakes, parfaits and a different main each morning. Easy walk to downtown, took us 30 mins (we're in our 60s). Bonus was the Governor Generals house next door with nice gardens open to the public.

United StatesThe absence of some conveniences in the bathroom. Hooks for towels, a grab bar in the large bathtub. First world sort of annoyances but would have been appreciated.
The breakfast was wonderful. We were fortunate to be able to sit on the front porch and were visited by a family of deer. A lovely experience and one we won't forget.

United StatesWe arrived at 3:15 for a 4 pm check in and initial contact was cool, not that welcoming - the sign by the door says they are open at 4 so we messed up. A few minutes later, the same hostess found us on the veranda with a much warmer tone and our stay was fine. Until we were to check out, and we had a knock on our door 15 min prior to check out to inquire about our plans to leave. Totally unnecessary and not anywhere near a 5 star experience. Lastly, this place is 1.2 mi (1.9 km) from the harbor...a good walk but the hotel should have a courtesy car given the distance.
Beautiful grounds, beside the Government House, so deer, rabbits and hummingbirds were regular visitors in the expansive lawns and flower beds. This place has a vibe of elegance, a charming facade and delicious breakfast.

AustraliaWe loved our stay here. The historic house was very well set out in a quiet neighbourhood close enough to town but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet of a country manor. The gardens are beautiful and there is on site parking that is very safe and accessible. We sat out in the garden each evening and watched the deer and their babies nibble on the grass. Our morning breakfast was so nice and all the people staying there were of our ilk! The staff are so great and nothing is too much trouble. We were so glad we stayed there and would go back in a flash.

CanadaI liked everything, but maybe a little suggestion would be to offer snacks, charcuterie, or wine for guests to enjoy on the lovely balcony!
I literally gasped when I entered our suite in Fairholme Manor Inn. The view of the ocean and mountains was simply stunning. It actually looked way better in person than in my photos. I loved the entire set up of our suite. There was so much space to relax, get ready, have some drinks etc. The suite has a balcony, a little sitting area, fireplace, bathroom and closet with plush bathrobes. The dining area is on the main floor (down the stairs from the suite). It’s so sunny and cozy, and the included gourmet breakfast is served there. It is a perfect way to start the morning. The service at Fairholme was fantastic. Both the owner, Sylvia, and our hostess were friendly and accommodating. One little detail I appreciated was that they included a binder full of activities to do in the city. I discovered a few things I didn’t know about from the binder. I also love the neighbourhood that Fairholme is located in. It’s very nice and quiet. The official residence of Victoria’s governor is just a couple minutes’ walk away and you can even tour his gardens. It’s also close to buses, so you can easily get around. Overall, simply incredible. It is one of those stays that I’ll never forget and would recommend to anyone visiting Victoria.
