Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaWhile room was overall very clean, there were a few dark hairs on the bathroom tile (not ours). Otherwise very well kept. Kitchenette could have used more towels but we didn't bother asking because we only stayed one night. We were delayed getting to the motel because the road is the Vesuvius ferry line up area. However, the ferry line up didn't negatively affect our sleep (no loud trucks waking us up for the first sailing of the morning). Not the motel's fault but just be aware: A lot of Crofton cafes are closed on Mondays and Tuesday. For example: One of the two pubs was closed.
Great value for a room with two separate bedrooms. Despite the motel being right on the ferry line up road, our stay was quiet and tranquil—just what we wanted for a one night stay. There's a lovely common / garden area with picnic tables and barbecues. The family running the motel gave us fresh fresh plums from their tree. Nice area: Stores and pubs are easily walkable. Park the car, stroll and relax. The nearby seawall is a short but pleasant.

United KingdomThe location is pretty deserted. Currently there is a labour strike from the bus service ongoing, only in the area of Crofton hence no buses are running, the only option is expensive uber which doesnt really show up if booked from Crofton, it will get cancelled as the area is so deserted. Buses only are working in the next nearby area of Duncan.
The staff was great and super friendly, despite of my many questions, they were always very helpful. Mun Chan was really nice too bad he is going to be leaving Crofton to live in Vancouver for working purpose. On my last day of the trip, going back to Nanaimo my uber cancelled on me and the owner of the motel was very very kind to give me a ride to the next town Duncan. She listened to me and understood my dilemma and was really kind to drive me, only because she was on her way to Duncan anyway. The motel itself was peaceful and quiet to stay in. I had no issue with noises.

CanadaRoom not equipped with hair dryer/ ironing board, although they might have been available if we'd asked.
Very basic motel, but bed was comfortable, it was super clean, and it met our needs for the family visit we were making. Great to have a full kitchen.

New ZealandThe manager tried to give me a single room even though I had booked a double. The building is old but for 1 night it's fine. Only 2 pubs in town, otherwise you have to drive 15mins to det to another town.

CanadaMaybe an ice machine somewhere
Love the kitchen for a simple meal. The upper room was a corner unit and had a table and chair in the shade. We had our own outdoor space for our supper. And enjoyed the breezes while the room cooled down. The walk down towards the ferry lead to a great boardwalk along the water. Well lit and benches all along the way.

CanadaSalt and pepper should be the basics in the kitchen. A towel to dry dishes. Things were homey but could be renewed. Pictures, lamps etc.
Spacious. Complete kitchen. But bring your own salt and oil and butter. I pan fried spotted prawns in garlic and olive oil and finished them with butter and white wine. The dish was great. I brought my own sponge and tea towel. The pots and pans were good. Beds were very comfortable and the separate bedroom was charming. I would have liked a plug to charge my car.

CanadaNicr big TV but the TV cable connection was funky, had difficulty getting it to work right. The very dated lamp beside the bed didn't work - spent 10 minutes plugging it in and fiddling w the light bulb to no avail. The tub didn't have a plug so you could only shower.
We had a very large groundfloor room w a fully functioning kitchenette. Very clean and very comfie bed and bedding.

United StatesNO housekeeping. After three days we had to put the trash outside the room for emptying. TV system is all computerized and is a nightmare. Seating in this large room consisted of two hard chairs. Light housekeeping system was two cups , two plates, two KFS. No sharp knives etc. Too basic. Asked for a Handicapped room as wife had just had a hip replacement. They gave us an upstairs room. Fire detector in room was missing.

CanadaThe room we stayed in had a window on the top side of the room that didn’t have blinds and was directly in front of an outdoor light. So the room was light all night. The grounds of the motel have an unkempt feel to them and I think because they allow smoking outside the rooms, there was a slight smell of cigarettes in the room. We aired it out with the fan and opened all of the windows. We wanted to be right near the ferry, so we just decided to overlook these things.
The location to access the Salt Spring island ferry is perfect. Also there is a pub/ restaurant and coffee shop located a quick walk away.
