How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It’s a simple, very clean and homey place that you can stay to rest and sleep without any worries. The host is very quick to respond to our requests and accommodate our needs. The location is very accessible, short drive to must see attractions in Nanaimo.

The only downpart is the location, it's a little outside from the downtown area, and there are 2 buses going downtown, which one is not frequent.
The place is spotless, either the shared area, the bathroom, and the room. The staff is very welcoming. They provide everything needed, shower products, coffee, tea, water, and even 2 cereal bars.

The shared bathroom was a slight inconvenience but I knew about it up front going into it. I do not fault the hosts for this. Everything was excellent.
The hosts had clearly put a lot of care and attention into welcoming visitors. I was greeted at the door after 10:00 p.m. with a handshake and a welcome. There were several food items such as a banana, granola bar, coffees, teas and water bottles

Nowhere to sit outside. Bring ice if you need it.

Nice stay in a friendly neighbourhood with a little trail just a few streets afar. Very comfortable bed and the room was clean however a little bit small. For one night I had nothing more to ask for. The hosts were so kind, they even helped me with my baggage twice and accompanied me to the bus station. Thanks a lot for that again.

perfect !!! the owner is very kind, he explained us everything ! we had so many things offered (towels, a little breakfast, another blanket) we used the microwave, the room and the bathroom was so clean, we are very happy about our trip !! thank you a lot !! 🫶🏻

I was disappointed there was no TV anywhere. I should have read the description better and brought my lap top
Place was beautiful and in a great location for me. Loved the big deep tub. The guests were very friendly. There was some cute extras like snacks in the room. Bed was super comfy.

Comfortable bedroom-staff was really friendly and helpful. I have mobility issues -they helped with luggage. Bedroom and bathroom were really clean.

The room is smaller than what I have expected. Place is located in the area with poor cellular reception but the room has strong wifi!
Shared bathroom has a bathtub! Host was very friendly with many snacks and amenities waiting for us when we checked in! Access to fridge, coffee machine and microwave oven was highly welcome!

Tea and coffee provided as well as snacks for the night and morning. Towels, robes and bathroom necessities were all available and the bed was very comfortable. The host did exactly what he needed to do and then let us have our space, there isn’t much I would really change honestly. We spent one night there and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Water bottles and mini chocolates were also provided.

The location is a wee bit tricky as it is on a small frontage road. Make sure you check your google maps for the address and magnify it to see exactly how to find the home. Once you know, it’s easy to find!
Our hosts have a lovely home that is exceptionally clean … with thick bathrobes and towels and a VERY comfortable bed. There is a small kitchen area outside of the small bedroom in the hallway with a microwave, fridge, toaster, etc. They generously offer coffee, tea and even morning breakfast treats. The “care cupboard” in the bathroom was a delightful surprise… all the first aid items you might need unexpectedly! Very thoughtful. So much care and attention has gone into providing a lovely stay. Much appreciated!
