I didn't like that the common area/kitchen smelled like dog pee. Wasn't noticeable in the private room, though.

My favorite thing about the room was how comfy and clean the bed was.

It's great for it's value, the bed and pillow was really comfortable and the bathroom was also great. John is really kind, he picked me up from the airport and took me there the next day. It was just a 15 minute ride. I would absolutely stay here again.

I needed to text the owner to use the laundry, but the quick response made it easy. The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, but overall, it was a good stay.

Free tea and coffee. A shared refrigerator, microwave, kettle, and hair dryer are available, along with cups, forks, spoons, paper plates, and clean drinking water. Tissues, toilet paper, and towels are provided. The bed was clean and comfortable, and the owner was flexible and responsive. Easy bus access to downtown, though it’s a little far from the train station. The little porch by the entrance was my favorite spot. I loved sitting there to work, and the Wi-Fi was smooth and reliable.

The place is very nice and budget friendly. I highly recommend this one if you value your sleep and privacy. The neighborhood is super nice and beautiful. Busstop if a few minutes walk away and the bus rides are quite cheap. I will go back before returning to europe.

Shared bathroom didn't have hand soap and was a bit cluttered. Room lamps were all very bright; there was no option for soft lighting. Communication with owner could have been better--we just received one-word answers.

The location is great, close to downtown and just a 5 minute walk to the nearest bus stop. House is easy to find, nice neighborhood, and felt safe. Room was very clean and comfortable.

My room was nice and clean. I liked the neighbourhood, it was safe. You can easily travel to downtown Vancouver and Airport from John’s house. Owner of a property appeared to be shy guy but kind person.

It is close to the airport, so it is about a 50-minute bus ride into town. Buses are very frequent. However, it is a lovely area to walk around and close to a supermarket and restaurants. Good-sized room with natural light and a work desk. Fridge, microwave, kettle, and coffee maker available. Host John is very responsive. Really comfortable bed.

It was a minor thing, but the power to my panel was turned off but was able to charge my phone on a neighbour's bed panel. In the morning my panel, light, charging waere restored.

Breakfast was included and it's good to start your day. Good mattress, clean bed, clean towel.

A very noisy aiir con or something similar that cut in and out pretty much the whole time ( I was out all day but very annoying at night trying to sleep). The smallest shower I have ever come across.

The toilet needs a new flapper as it “runs” a long time after flushing. The front door keyless entry has a stick number which requires re-entry very often. There is only one fire escape route because the second one, through the kitchen, is locked.

It was comfortable and a great location and the prince was excellent. It was very clean and easy to communicate with the owner if needed.

The fact that a guest came in late & woke me at 4AM & then again at 5:20. I knocked on their door & all was good. It advertised a bidet but that was untrue. A small amount of oil in the hinges of the front door would easily fix the loud squeaking in opening & closing the door.

Though the room way small, the bed was comfort & I had a nice sleep.

This is a great spot and I recommend it highly. The only thing I'd note for tall travellers is that it's in the basement and the ceilings are low - something to consider if you're taller than 187cm (6'2").

John's House offered a clean room with a very comfortable bed, decent amount of space and a closet, and convenient check in. It also has a nice kitchen and a free washing machine, plus it's close to a Safeway supermarket. I stayed for just over a week while doing a course at Coast Wilderness Medical Training (less than five minutes' walk away). It is good value for money in Vancouver.
