Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesI didn't like that it was on the 2nd floor. I didn't like that it had road noise, so rest was next to impossible. I didn't like that the quiet time was midnight and not the more common 10pm. I didn't like that I ended up with shared bathroom reservations. I didn't like that there was nobody available to assist in person. And no, the bed wasn't comfortable, since you asked.
Nothing, really. Apparently, I made a mistake in booking. I was sure that I reserved the room with private bathroom, but it turned out that it wasn't -- so that may be on me.

CanadaThis was my first truly terrible experience renting a room. I could never have imagined there would be a house rule prohibiting guests from showering after 10 PM — especially when this rule was never mentioned in the listing. I drove from Calgary to BC and arrived around 9:30 PM. The host did not allow us to shower after 10 PM, and while I was in the middle of my shower, the water system was shut off. I couldn’t even finish washing myself. I respectfully request that Booking review this host’s standards and listing practices. Not only was this rule unreasonable and undisclosed, but the way it was enforced was completely unacceptable and caused significant discomfort.

CanadaFirst of all, the house was poorly lit. We arrived when it was dark and it was not obvious what house to go to. The outside lights were off which made it feel unsafe. The sign on the inside of the front door about mice did not help. Parking was promised on site, there was none. When we arrived, the hostess asked for $50 cash for a third person. It was an honest mistake - I booked for 2 adults and didn't notice the "1 child" had somehow disappeared. No receipt or recording of this payment. The hostess said she prepared the room (2 queen beds) for two people. We paid extra and didn't get a 3rd towel. No hand towel or washcloths provided. We spent literally 7 hours in the property. A rip-off! Coffee machine on desk but no coffee. No view as promised. Very noisy next to a busy street. The listing stated garden/mountain view. We had a neighbours house at close proximity and constant vehicle traffic. As a non-Chinese family we didn't feel very comfortable.

AustraliaIt was advertised as 25 square metres and it was in fact 12 sqm. There was some dark powder in a jar labelled black garlic which was apparently coffee but no cups. Asked for tea and received chinese tea. TV did not work. There was a set of nail clippers on the table Bed sheets were stained (see picture) and we found a hair in the bed. Where walls had been painted / patched the color was not the same as the remainder of the wall. Turning on the shower needed instructions. Living room had a refrigerator parked in the middle of it. Owners did not speak English - very poor communication to access the property - they sent codes to the wrong email address apparently. No idea of hospitality. Just a money making exercise we had to pay $160 for.
