Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe parking is a little tight, but still manageable. Water pressure in the room was minimal, and the a/c could use better directions.
We loved the location, the quaintness of the boutique inn was so sweet and even though the front office was under construction there was someone always available to assist.

CanadaCheck in time could be more flexible.
LOVE the location! We can park and just walk the town. I didn't have breakfast (was there breakfast available??) Got a nice welcome call from the employee on site - she was super friendly and welcoming. I wish you offered earlier check in as the room was ready way before I could get into it. We have stayed at Lamphouse many times over the years.

CanadaThe no contact check-in and non-existent staff presence makes this feel like a really impersonal stay I'm sorry to say. Which would be fine if it wasn't costing as much as it does. My room door had a gap at the bottom because the weather stripping was damaged and we ended up having to put a towel down at night to make sure bugs didn't get in. Also the TV remote didn't work at all. Not sure if batteries were dead or what? Normally you'd go down to the front desk or whatever, but I didn't feel that was even an option here, especially by the time we noticed these things.
Great location, I imagine that's the main reason everyone stays here. The rooms are clean and pretty nice. I like that our room came with extra glasses, an electric kettle and drink mixer. Also an extra fan.

United StatesLots of noise very thin walls and kids upstairs stomping around till 1130. It was also confusing as to the location since they have three different properties. I was not the only person who went to the wrong check in place. This needs to be made more clear especially when you google it on maps.
The location was excellent.

CanadaValue for money was not very impressive for an unstaffed motel. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, but would consider whether there are other options in the area first.
As others have noted, this is a renovated motel with no staff on site. The automated self check-in was not without hiccups but after calling the number provided by the hotel during business hours (5 pm) it was fairly easy to sort out. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and large - enough that we could set up a tent and tarp in the living area to dry out. Our room backed onto the creek and had a view of the mountains.

United KingdomOn arrival our access code to the room didn't work and we had difficulty getting hold of anyone to assist as there was no one on site. It happened to another couple who arrived mid evening which was a real problem until another guest gave us a (different) mobile number and we managed to contact someone from the hotel by WhatsApp and they remotely re-set the access code. I feel they ought to have someone on site to deal with evening arrivals.
The hotel was very well positioned in the town of Canmore.

United StatesWhen I got there I couldn't get into my room because my credit card was declined. They have a phone outside that connects to the other hotel. THere is nobody at the front desk, other reviews mention this as well. I ended up physically walking over to their other hotel to get things sorted out, certainly could have been handled better. If you go, make sure you get the email with room number and password to get in before your trip.
Location, room, amenities, tub, proximity to downtown are great.

CanadaA weird thing happened on Tuesday night when other guests tried to get into my room, cause they were assigned it as well. Went back to bed then front desk staff came and knocked again to confirm who I was. The TV in the room was unplugged and when I plugged it in it was a fuzzy screen and it didn't seem to work, I left it unplugged, couldn’t watch the Stanley cup finals 😢 The hot water takes about 5 minutes to warm up enough for a shower and the room AC was really loud.
On the positive side room was very clean, staff were kind and bed and pillow were super comfortable.

United StatesHeaters kicked on with a startling sound then run in silence. Room temperature perfect otherwise. Neighbors' doors closing startled us too. These are minor issues.
Room with a view surrounded by mountains. (see pics) The river flows through town right outside the window. We visited early May before the seasonal swell of tourism. Cleanliness: Spic and Span. Comfort: right on. Water pressure: excellent. Location: unbelievably good. Black out curtains for the 5am-ish sunrise: Thank You! Coffee and pastries at on-site Electric Wolf café are great. Windows on both sides of room; the view to the West is stunning while view to east is the lovely river. There are good restaurants, shops, bars, etc., right next door. A hippie bulk store called Nutters a block away. DeGrassi Jr. High on the TV! Oh, Canada! Since Basecamp are all over the area, I wish I could try out all of them for comparison, but Lamphouse in Canmore won me over.
