How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewSpacious, bright room Huge bed Clear instructions for self check-in
Room doesn't get cleaned unless you ask. Contrary to statement on Booking.com and their website, the restaurant is NOT open in the evenings. It serves brunch until 14.00, nothing else. There is little other possibility to eat in the village in the evenings. The room has a microwave but no plates, cutlery or kettle and the local shop doesn't sell microwave meals. After a few days here, we were seriously hungry! Lack of contact with reception staff felt unwelcoming

Not much. It’s a self check in and we were a bit lost because there were no indications to where to find the hot drinks..very noisy from 8 am with people coming to park their cars.

Verified reviewThe location was good for us between Saguenay and Quebec, allowing us to break the drive. Room was simple, but clean and had everything we needed. The location was lovely and quiet. It was great to hear the birdsong in the morning. We met the owner the next morning who was very friendly.

Verified reviewThe location is beautiful.
We were there in the off season on a Sunday evening so there were no restaurants open within half an hour’s drive. To be expected I suppose.

Verified reviewLocation is good, close to the national park
We never met any ownership related staff. Our name was posted on the door and room was assigned. No way to make changes even we booked the hotel early on. Our friends go with us. It looks like our room is together, yet, one is at the back. We have to drive back and forth to get both luggage load and unload. The hotel didn’t make it clear that they don’t provide meals, only breakfast can be purchased. They close at 2:00 pm. We didn’t know that so get back late and had hard time to find a place to eat. The cafe in this hotel is not really a cafe. Almost every thing they prepared are either frozen or ready to go style. It was cold, including the boiled eggs. They didn’t do a decent business. They just don’t prepare real food. Price is very high relative to the quality !

Verified reviewNicely situated in petit-Saguenay with a beautiful garden and very nice young couple as hosts.
The self-checking was confusing and the restaurant is closed at night (off season?) when we thought it would be open.

Verified reviewThis place is a gem. Under new ownership and they deserve to succeed. Mary especially was so helpful recommending sights and activities in the area. There is also an information booth across the road. The accommodations sit well back from the road and are very quiet. The property is spectacular with rolling lawns where you can relax in their chairs and admire the bird calls or gaze at the towering cliffs which rise from the back of the property. It is right in the centre of town and restaurants, groceries and liquor are within a stone’s throw. The town is a little gem with a salmon river running through it. Many hiking trails nearby. We stayed three nights and wished we had longer. The rooms are simply furnished but with many thoughtful touches. The breakfast area is delightful and we enjoyed their breakfast offerings.
We were welcome to charge our electric vehicle but access to a receptacle was difficult. A dedicated outlet would have been nice.

Verified reviewIf you are interested in a property with beautiful grounds, friendly, accommodating hosts and a great jumping off point to the hiking and other sites south of the Saguenay, this should be on your list. The entire facility is spotless and has been well maintained by the owners for their 20+ years of ownership. This is very much a family operation with the kind of flexibility not often found with large "chain" operations. While there's not a "restaurant" in the traditional sense, there is a nice space dedicated to dining with nice views. You can make arrangements for breakfast and or dinner on a day by day basis, which provided great flexibility. There are "menu" choices for both meals with a good variety that should work for anyone. Everything was prepared to order and very good.
I'd really have to stretch to come up with anything to complain about, which wouldn't be fair. The facilities and services ranged from exceptional to very good.

Verified reviewOur room was very spacious and had a nice storage area for a suitcase and a holder for another suitcase. It was great that there was a door directly to the outside, so we could easily bring our luggage in. The common area was comfortable and full of interesting books, plus a fireplace that we didn't take advantage of. The hosts were welcoming and friendly.
I didn't like to have to pay extra for breakfast, at CAD 18 per person that would have added another almost CAD 60 to the bill. Cheaper to get breakfast elsewhere. Also didn't like that the common area closed at an early hour, and wasn't even open our 2nd night there.
