Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaDragging my suitcase up two flights of stairs, although two very nice people helped me. Pedestrian noise on the street below was a bit loud late at night.
The room was clean and spacious with a window that opened and a fan.

GermanyThere's only 1 shared bathroom/toilet per gender. Magnetic key card doesn't work when you put it together with the phone. (Which can easily be forgotten when you're going in an out of the room).
Very cute vintage hotel in the center of Jasper. Walking distance to the main street for food and shopping. Hotel and room were well maintained and clean. Free parking on the back. Wifi worked. Sink in the room. Nice staff.

Me and my girlfriend stayed in a small cozy room with shared bathroom. Not too bad that I expected, everything was clean and we were lucky that it was not too busy. The staff is really nice and helpful as well. The big bonus is location!!

CanadaThe shared bath was ok I side, and we never met anyone in it, but it did make me nit want to take a shower as it's not very private. Also in the morning, the toilet was broken and didn't flush and it was the only choice. The hall way was nice and cool, but the room was a little warm, but the ceiling fan helped.
I do respect that it is an old hotel and they try to preserve a charming unique feel.

United StatesMy room had an “old” smell to it. It was very clean, but definitely had a smell to it. Had to open the window to air it out-but it still persisted. I did not mention it to the staff. I didn’t love that the shared bathroom could be accessed by anyone while I was in it. Other shared bathrooms I have used at other hotels been lockable from the inside so no one else could access while I was inside. I tried to lock the door on this bathroom from the inside, but it didn’t work. Felt uncomfortable knowing anyone could enter while I was in the shower of going to the bathroom. I should have read the description better because I actually didn’t even know it was a shared bathroom until I got there.
Location was great.

CanadaThe shared toilet and bath are more of a stretch than it needs to be. There seems to be one toilet (actually one toilet) and one bath for many rooms. The bath is very un-private - the door is the kind you get in public washrooms - space underneath and not to the ceiling. Not a step up from a basic hostel. I do think they could offer up some real estate on the floor to create multiple bath units that are properly private. The staff member who checked me in was pretty abrupt. I get that she's rattled it off dozens of times in the day but it came across as quite unwelcoming - Shared bathroom - you're aware? No elevator, no breakfast, pay in advance plus a $200 deposit. With space limited and prices high in Jasper this was the cheapest room in town aside from the hostel. But it actually wasn't cheap at over $200, but I felt a bit judged. Also, one suggestion is to work on the entrance door to the hotel - when you walk up it's hard to pick out the hotel entrance amid the big signs for the bar, and it does look a bit dive-y.
I knew what I was getting - room with a sink and shared toilet/bath, and I actually stayed at the Athabasca Hotel in the 80s though in a room with a private bath. The hotel kind of works. It's exceptionally clean and well polished, and quite recently renovated in terms of some decor, and if it weren't it would be much less appealing. The room itself is quite attractive in a vintage way - old European style with a sink in the room. The bed is nice - good pillows and snowy linen, and the carpet is clean and plush. Good towels. Not much space to put things or store things but OK. Prices were sky high in Jasper and this was the only reasonably priced option.
