Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BahamasThe property and room were very dated and in need of an upgrade. The AC was not working very well in the height of summer was problematic. The facilities/pool/gardens were not really “open” or as advertised.
Bed was comfortable, location is good.

United StatesExpect the start of the dinner hour (6:30pm) may be delayed as the staff get prepared. In our case, a new staff member was in training, and the delay was understandable. The pool was not well maintained, so do not expect to swim as the water quality was compromised.
The hotel grounds are quiet and lovely, with comfortable lounge chairs alongside the pool and gardens. The views from the upper deck are gorgeous, and indoor and outdoor seating options are plentiful and cozy, with privacy easy to find. The Indian restaurant was exceptional. The food at dinner was perfectly spiced and very fresh, with large portions. Local families came to dine alongside hotel guests. Breakfast was simple and adequate, with yogurt, bagels, croissants, hard-boiled eggs, and coffee and juice provided, complimentary. The staff and service were fantastic. Honor bar made it easy to find your beverage of choice, and the staff was also available to mix cocktails. The rooms are spacious as are the en suite bathrooms with large showers.

CanadaThey may have been short staffed. The pool loungers and umbrellas were broken and old. When we went to breakfast, their were no utencils or plates. The staff seemed to wait until called to replenish instead of having things ready. At 9:30 in the morning as we were getting ready, the staff was sweeping outside on our balcony. It was alarming and not private unfortunately.
We were greeted very well. We loved lounging around the pool. The proximity to the airport and water were great. I like the historical feel of the builiding

United StatesThis wasn’t an issue for us, but this is not a suitable location for people with mobility issues, as there are quite a few stairs to climb. Coffee and pastries are available in the morning, but don’t expect full-service hotel amenities; it’s more like living in someone’s lovely hilltop home with ocean views.
We absolutely loved ASTA, which is, happily, far away from the massive hotels in downtown Nassau. Our room was lovely, comfortable, and with a balcony overlooking the lush tropical gardens and small pool. The water view from the main deck is stunning, with a sweet beach within a few minutes’ walk. Loved the onsite Indian food, which is served on the main deck, upon request. We ate there 3 times!

MaltaThe mattress in our room was extremely soft, and didn't suit our backs. I would suggest replacing. The owners seem to be replacing the existing furniture with a more modern style.....to be honest we much preferred the old furniture, it had character.
We loved the location, away from Nassau, but totally accessible via bus or taxi. Beaches close by, Love Beach, Jaws Beach, Johnston's Beach were great for us as we didn't fancy all the fuzz from the 100's of tourist coming off the cruise ships daily. John, Marcy and RJ were all great. They did everything to help and make our stay comfortable. The garden area was great to chill out and the rock pool was so nice to jump in any time of day or night. The terrace overlooking the beach was always clean and accessible, the breakfasts were simple, yet healthy and the Indian food served at the restaurant was great. I would definitely recommend staying there if you don't mind being away from the centre or for a short stopover.

United StatesI would say the stairs because there's tons of stairs but it's hard as it was to Lug all of our luggage up there and down there and every time you want to go somewhere you got to go up and down the stairs which we counted them and there's over a hundred on a good note my legs are in a lot better shape when I left than they were when I got there
Out of the hustle and bustle of downtown but still close enough to drive there the staff was awesome the room was nice had a great view from the balconies the property was beautiful

GermanyIf you are looking for a beautiful "Bahamian beach" near the hotel you will not find one by walking. There is a small beach few minutes away, however it will not meet your expectations if you are looking for a "paradise beach".
Top location for a short stay near the airport (5min taxi ride for 25 Dollar). Very nice manager who upgraded us to a beautiful room during our second stay at the end of our trip. We also liked the Indian food in the evening. Breakfast is included, however there is only a very small breakfast selection.

United KingdomThe water flow out of the shower was very poor - perhaps there was an issue of supply during our stay and it might not be an issue on other occasions.
This hotel is full of character, it's very Bahamian. Lovely views over the water (although you are not directly next to the ocean). I'm not sure it's a hotel that you would want to stay for two weeks but for a short stay/layover it's very good value for money and the staff are all charming.

United StatesGetting a cab to and from the hotel if you're not coming from the airport is a bit challenging. We had to have our waiter drive us back from a nearby restaurant because the cab he ordered never came, and the cab we ordered for a 6am pickup through the hotel staff never came. We were forced to rely on the kindness of a neighborhood resident to take us to the airport as there was no one on staff at 6am to help us when our taxi didn't show up. It would be good if the the hotel was staffed earlier to help get people to the airport or give guests the name and number of the taxi driver so they can follow up themselves. The neighborhood is a lovely residential neighborhood with restaurants and bars about a 15-20 minute walk away. Unfortunately, there are no sidewalks or streetlights, so getting back after dark requires a taxi.
The Stones Throw Away is a great hotel for arriving in Nassau and connecting to a flight the next day to another island in the Bahamas. It's a quick cab ride from the airport, there's a nice pool and the rooms are very comfortable. The veranda is a beautiful place to enjoy a cocktail or breakfast - which we unfortunately didn't have since we had an early flight in the morning.

United KingdomOnly one of our pillows was soft - it would have been nice to have had another.
The property has lots of character - unlike the larger hotels in Nassau. It’s not a luxury hotel but it’s comfortable. The rooms are spacious. We had a room overlooking the garden but in fact because the hotel is on a hill we had far reaching views over the residential areas of Nassau which was lovely. We could see the airport in the distance but we couldn’t hear the planes. We would definitely book again.
