Beautiful room with comfortable beds and pillows. Spacious and nice common area. A lot of privacy, silent. The staff was also very nice and helpful.

We had the opportunity to stay at two different lodgings in Atins. One difference was that Villa Gaia had more pererecas, aka frogs. This may have something to do with the design of their windows and showers. The frogs are relatively harmless; however, you should consider your tolerance of them. The other thing is that the person with whom I communicated before arrival was more hands-off when it came to activities. At our other lodging, they offered advice and took the lead in booking and confirmations. When I asked about a transfer at Villa Gaiia, that person sent me a contact rather than arranging it for me. Local knowledge and help can be a plus in a place like Atins.

Dilce, who is the heart and soul of the place, makes a stay at Villa Gaia worth it. When you meet her, you feel like you have a local, a Maranhense, as a family member. Many other lodgings don't hire locals to interact with lodgers; this is not the case here. The location of the villa is quite close to the center without being in the middle of the "action". The owners of Villa Gaia have invested years and many reais to create a lovely and thoughtful sanctuary in Atins. We did have an issue with the bathroom and the staff was quick to respond, even late at night. That level of attentiveness is rate and was appreciated.
