There are so many positives about this hostel. I stayed with a group of friends from Monday to Thursday and didn’t expect much with the cold, gloomy weather. But the amazing staff—super friendly and kind—really made our weekday stay fun. The hostel sits right on the beach with direct access, and whether it was the ping pong table or the pool, the vibe was always chill and social. Great spot for solo travelers too.

Stayed in girls dorm. Comfy beds, and AC. Modern bathroom, cute outdoor area to hang clothes. Hostel is good, chill vibes. Met some great people, they have nightly activities and surf lessons etc. Only down side is the manager is a little too serious, the other girls are desk were much more helpful. But would def stay again, and suggest to anyone!

Despite the positive aspects, unfortunately I had a really bad experience in this hostel which I wasn’t sure if I should mention but I think it’s important to speak up about it. In one of the days during my stay in the hostel I returned at 14:40 PM to the dorm to find someone who isn’t from our dorm using our private toilet for their “needs” (the dorm’s front door is always unlocked and I heard the “noises” and then saw the girl quietly sneaking out of the room afterwards). However right before she closed the dorm’s door she noticed me behind her looking at her confused and she approached me quickly and started lashing at me in English (with a heavy Argentinian accent) why do I keep the dorm’s door open. At first I was shocked from the unexpected accusation by someone I have never seen before, and it seemed to me as if she was trying to justify her entry to the room and usage of our toilet. When I replied to her that the wind from the open window must have blown on the front door and opened it, she said I should keep the window closed. Then I explained to her that the room is hot which is why the other guests and I have opened the window to get some fresh and cool air. However, while I was talking she suddenly waved her hand quickly in front of me, cut me in the middle of my words and said aggressively that she doesn’t speak English. Later I realized she works in the hostel which made me confused how can someone from the hostel’s staff can treat guests like that. A day later, the same girl came to clean our room early in the morning (at approx 08:20 AM) when we were still sleeping, she woke us up, tried to turn on the light (until one of the guests asked her not to because people were still sleeping..), pulled of bedsheets and moved stuff around the dorm, open/closed doors loudly and more, all BEFORE people like myself had even the chance to wake up, organize our stuff and check out at 11:00 AM at the time the hostel allows to check out.

Many different common areas indoors and outdoors which was nice. My dorm had a private balcony with space to hang your wet clothes and even sit down. Location was good as the hostel has a direct access to the beach and a short walk to a supermarket and restaurants. They also offer various activities (free and paid) which was good.

Staying at The Search House has been one of the highlights of my time in Brazil. Very friendly and welcoming family, the hostel is clean and fun. Great food, great atmosphere and the location is unbeatable.

The staff in reception, bar and restaurant are all very friendly. The facilities are very clean and the beds are comfortable. They organise day time and evening activities every day. Kitchen is also very well equipped and the fridge isn’t overloaded like most hostels.

Pool could do with a good proper clean (a bit murky) and it’s quite expensive for what you’re paying for. The actual owner seemed a bit grumpy.

Right on the beach, nice pillows and crispy sheets, big clean communal kitchen, friendly staff, decent bar and restaurant onsite and a good place to meet new people.

The karaoke night ended a bit early.

The staff is super friendly and helpful. The hostel is really big with green areas and nice accomodation. I loved the time I spend there and would always recomend it.

A perfect modern hostel! After travelling Latin America for 6 months this hostel was up there as one of the best that I had stayed in. It felt extremely clean and like a home. After struggling with many dirty and unequipped kitchens for months, the search house kitchen is just perfection to cook in. it is fully equipped, sparkling clean and has a big open plan eating area to encourage socialising. I made great friends here and felt comfortable from the moment I walked in which is a rare for me. If you don't like cooking the restaurant on site makes very good food (huge portion sizes)

I booked for two nights and ended up staying two weeks. It is such a beautiful space - fact it’s a converted house means it has a perfect layout for meeting people - and then the massive garden leading onto Barra da Lagoa beach (which itself is stunning & untouched) has so many different spaces for drinking, sunbathing, co-working etc. & hammocks/rollerblading ramp. It manages to be expansive and intimate all at once; where the party’s at but also where you can chill by yourself. Also incredibly clean, with shelves to organise your things. With all that, you wouldn’t need great staff - but there’s not a single person who is not genuinely kind. When I hurt my back they helped me with all kinds of things; Bia literally packed up every single one of my things and carried my bags to a different room. When another girl staying had a birthday the chef baked her a delish cake. The breakfast/dinner etc is also brill if you’re missing your home comforts/ they’re thoughtful about dietary requirements but there’s also a really well-equipped kitchen which is fun to cook in.

Internet went down one day - it wasn't hostel fault - basically half of the island was without internet.

Steps away from the beach and friendly staff. The fact that they have a restaurant inside is really helpful for remote works that don't have to search food outside the hostel. The food is really good with amazing vegetarian options.

- our private room was great but there was something dripping in the bathroom that it made most of the toilet and sink floor soaking wet

- located right on the beach - option to hire surf boards - the tower restaurant was delicious loved the poke bowl and tacos - there was a bar which served drinks and breakfast which was very good too - the Hostel had a great vibe, and staff were all super lovely - great pool table and table tennis - spacious kitchen - loved the trees and greenery on the property

The location is amazing, right next to the beach. Private room is cozy and comfortable but the best thing of this hostel are the infinite activities you can do and the vibes. Everyone is chilled enjoying this place that I’d like to call paradise. Highly recommended!!

By far the best hostel I stayed in! They provide it all and it is very clean. I especially enjoyed that the room had a separate storage for your bags. I place I could really calm down and enjoy!
