Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The windows don't close well so there was some noise at night from the street. We also didn't know that you have to hand in your key in the morning if you want your room to be cleaned. When I asked about it they were kind enough to help me with the things we needed. Despite that we enjoyed our stay because of everything else.
It's very cosy and the building has a nice character and it's clean. We prefer this over super modern buildings. The breakfast was nice and the staff was friendly. Also the location is really nice, it's close to the centre.

Pousada Marendaz checked all the boxes for me. It is located very close to the historic center and a short walk to/from the bus terminal. Breakfast in the courtyard was very nice. The room was comfortable and had good air conditioning. The staff were always helpful. I would like to particularly note Simone who answered my many questions(english) and helped me book tours. Thank you.

The ladies were so gracious!! Each morning, they offered to make me scrambled eggs, knowing that in the USA eggs are part of our breakfast regimen. I need to start my day with protein!

Very dated. Not properly isolated from the street so a bit loud.
Nice old building keeping with the local style. Decent breakfast. Very cheap stay so overall good value for money.

The court yard uses hard white light but has great opportunity for indirect lighting to make it really charming. The bathrooms were clean but are a little outdated. The "pool" was old and dirty and should be replaced with a jacuzzi. Overall, the place could do with an upgrade

Needs a little TLC to make the rooms more comfortable.
We found the Pousada to be in a convenient location on the edge of the old part of the town near to the bus station.

room was rather small; all rooms face the courtyard where the breakfast area is also located therefore it is quite loud when breakfast starts in the morning (if you want to sleep in); the window facing the courtyard has no glass (probably normal for the area); no bed lights
host was nice and engaged; clean room; nice breakfast with good selection; good location between historic center and bus terminal; nice service of afternoon coffee and cakes for free

The rooms were perhaps a fraction on the small side but that's clutching at straws as they still represented excellent value for money.
Pousada Marendaz surpassed all of our expectations in every way, which for a group of 8 aged 10-80 is some achievement. The rooms were comfortable with extra attractive seating areas outside. The breakfast was excellent and the location could hardly have been better being right next to the old town. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, going above and beyond in helping to organise additional activities, which all proved to be of an excellent standard. Value for money was absolutely top notch. We could not have been happier.

The room could use a bedside lamp, and since it's right next to the communal area where breakfast is had, the mornings are a bit noisy.
Loved the location and breakfast! Also the staff was very lovely and helpful. The fan in the room was great to have too.
