Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe rooms are quite small, which isn’t an issue but it’s is good to set expectations. There was construction work as it seems they are renovating for the next season but this only disturbed our last day.
The site is lovely with cute cabins and the staff were lovely. The breakfast was nice and overall was good value for money.

GermanyPerfect for relaxing vacation in the middle of paradisiacal environment! Away from the noisy and busy tourist centre, but 10 minutes on feet from the centre of Val do Abraao. Beautiful place, completely renovated rooms (bungalow 1 + room 6, for 3 nights), super clean, with ventilator and AC, protected by trees so that it keeps the buildings cool, great breakfast with home-made cake, very friendly and helpful personnel, and a safe place where you can put your clothes to dry outside:-) We warmly recommend this place as well as the sun-set tour with an Hawaiian boot with Sunrisepioneers (Martin). Careful: very steep end walk to the Pousada.

AustraliaThe room was on the small size but the balcony definitely helped.
Great little pousada on the outskirts of town. An easy walk to town. We had a superior room which had a nice private balcony with hammock, table and chairs. There was a nice view of the mountain and forest from the balcony. Breakfast was varied and very good. The staff were accommodating, spoke english well and helped us book a boat tour. Lots of cute cats and little monkeys hanging around.

United KingdomIf you want more privacy I would recommend booking the upstairs bedrooms with their own terrace. They are small but good for a couple of nights.
The property is an oasis above the noise and business of the town. Great helpful staff. Nice vibe. Filtered water was a bonus.

United StatesSmall uphill and had to drag our luggage up. There is a porter service and we did not know about it. Also, there are many ferries to take you across to the island. Make sure you check different agencies for pricing. We paid BRL100 per person for round trip but later saw options for the 50. Do your research on private transfer prices to get to the ferry terminal from the airport. We realized we overpaid a bit and did not know we should negotiate.
Very relaxing and beautifully maintained property. Loved the hammocks outside the rooms. Fernanda was amazing support. Very resourceful. Breakfast was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The ladies in the kitchen were refilling fresh fruits and cakes every few minutes!

United KingdomNothing - everything was excellent. Perhaps slightly overpriced for Brazil.
Beautiful surroundings. Constant birdsong and greenery everywhere you look. Lovely breakfast - lots of fresh fruit, a choice of freshly squeezed juices, two cakes daily, fresh bread, ham, cheese and salad. Up a steep hill away from the town, so no noise at all from bars and restaurants. Very family-friendly. Seems especially popular with German guests.

We had an excellent stay at Pousada Albatroz - it exceeded our expectations. We had no problem checking in later in the evening and the staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful, rooms were spotless and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere is great. If you have mobility challenges, mind the fact that you do need to walk up a hill to get here and there are steps up to the property.

NetherlandsEverything was perfect for us. If you have mobility issues, just be aware that the pousada is up a short but moderately steep road.
Great experience. We travelled with our 1 year old and everything was great. There was a lovely cot ready for her when we arrived. The breakfast was excellent (for us and for her). Normally we would have preferred to stay a bit out of the main turist hub, but for our first big trip with our little one we were happy to find this perfect compromise. Beautiful and peacefull environment just 5 minutes walking from all the restaurants and facilities. We look forwards to going back again.

DenmarkThe rooms themselves are a little more basic and simple and not super luxurious. But the rest of the pousada makes up for it. It didn’t bother us, but the location is up a steep but short hill.
The garden is beautiful, the breakfast is great (they even prepared special things for one of us who is vegan) and the staff is exceptional. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Also loved that there are multiple cats living in the property.
