Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAs the hotel is situated in a remote location and away from the port of Abrao, you can only get to the hotel by boat transfer arranged by the hotel and they charge $100 RS (equal to 20 US dollars) per person for transfer to the hotel from Abrao or back in case you want to spend some time in Abrao. We felt this was quite expensive and if you are travelling as a family this can be quite expensive. The room was nice but a bit smaller than how it is advertised on booking.com.
The views were incredible and the food was really good despite it being a bit of a limited menu. The staff were also eally friendly and helpful. I would recommend for a couple or small amily looking to have a bit of privacy. They also have Alexa set up in each room which makes it quite a modern set up and the TV was set up with all the smart tv apps which was great but not sure if we just got lucky.

AustraliaService could be better, staff were kind but only one was exceptionally prompt and helpful. But we understand people are on island time.
The room and facilities were stunning. The view is absolutely amazing with basically your own private beach - paradise on Earth!

Germany-staff is not very welcoming (a girl named Luana was confrontational since arrival) -no transportation to the nearby Abraão is included, and actually pricey (R$100 per person/trip) -we were incorrectly charged a wine bottle in our first dinner, when we requested clarification all the restaurant staff came over and still was never clear why the bottle was more expensive and not listed in the menu
Nice hotel design, amazing views from the room

United StatesThe breakfast organization was not good in my opinion. I prefer to see all available options and take my preferences myself, the menu system that I need to order doesn't work for me. The price of lunch and dinner option is very high, same for drinks.
The location is good and the view of ocean from hotel is very good. The size (small) of hotel is good for me, I prefer options with less rooms and less people.

SerbiaSmall rooms with no cupboards, both room, bathroom and balcony shabby and not very clean. More or less staff does not speak English, so it’s not easy to communicate. We used translator and that helped a lot but it’s time consuming. Most kind and useful person was Lukas! Food was good but they were running out of almost everything! One day they had no Coke!!! Dish and seafood, as well as meat are really good, but no salads! Breakfast choice is very limited… and again no vegetables or salads. All together it could be great with the existing potentials but it needs a lot of work.
Beautiful location, nature and beach. Great set up for stunning hotel but…

FranceUnfortunately we noted lot of problems that shouldn’t happen in a 4 stars hotel: -only one staff member could speak English -incomplete information about the hotel rules given upon our arrival, in consequence our room hasn’t been clean after the first night. We had to ask to clean the room at the end of the day when we came back -some small dirt (room table with coffee stain, dog poo inside the beach club near the bench, many beer caps and paper on the grass of the beach club) -no toilet paper in the toilet near the reception -some room facilities are defectives (the luggage bench was nearly broken so you cannot use it, one socket next to the bed wasn’t working, lack of pressure in the shower which was quickly solved by the hotel staff
The view is amazing, each room has a view in the ocean. The place is very quiet near a nice little beach. The food in the restaurant is particularly tasty. Breakfast is delicious with lot of choices. We enjoyed the private beach club in front of the sea. We also really appreciated the small welcome cake in the room.

SwitzerlandOur stay at Hotel Papiro in Ilha Grande was a huge disappointment. The hotel is extremely expensive for the service provided, and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and hassle-free experience. First, communication is terrible. The only way to reach the hotel is through WhatsApp, and they take their time to respond. We asked about their own boat transfer service, but after waiting for hours with no response, we ended up paying for a private transfer, which was much cheaper and more convenient than the hotel’s option. The room was just okay, but the furniture was visibly worn out. Housekeeping left our windows open, which, considering the hotel is in the middle of the forest, was a terrible idea—we came back to a room full of insects. A major issue is that the hotel doesn’t offer potable water, and they only inform you about this once you arrive. Of course, they overcharge for bottled water. The tap and shower water was yellow and clearly not clean. After brushing our teeth with it, we developed cold sores, which is completely unacceptable. Another major inconvenience was the lack of hot water in our room. We reported it to reception, but it took two days for them to fix it—ironically, on the day we were leaving. Even then, the hot water ran out in the middle of a shower. The restaurant was also a disaster. The food is overpriced for what they serve, and the service is extremely poor. They forgot to place our main dish order but still charged us for it. To top it all off, one night we returned to the hotel only to find they were hosting a loud party with extremely rude guests, making it impossible to relax. Another downside: the staff doesn’t speak English, making communication difficult for international guests. Overall, this was a terrible experience—unresponsive staff, poor service, overpriced everything, and basic amenities like clean water and hot showers weren’t even guaranteed. Definitely not worth the money.

QatarI was really looking forward to a good night's sleep, but unfortunately, my bed was anything but comfortable. It seems that the bed base beneath the mattress was broken, creating a huge hole that made it impossible to get any rest. I mentioned this issue at the reception, but sadly, I received no positive response. Instead, I was only informed about the additional charges for water and dinner.
It’s peaceful, ideal to relax

NetherlandsThey charge an absurd amount for their boat to pick you up and get you back ashore. 150 real per person. With a family of 5 you pay 750 real one way. That's $130 for 10-minute boat ride, while you can hire a private boat for the whole day for $175 on the island. We were charged stuff from the minibar we did not consume. They charge for the coffee in the room, while this is complementary in every hotel in the world. The menu in the restaurant is impressive, but 80% is out of stock, so you end up with a burger or rice. Breakfast is the same every day and limited. The rooms are very small and need maintenance. The staff is friendly, but seem to have no decision power.
The location is of course very good. However, you need a water taxi to get there. The place has a lot of potential, but I would not recommend going there.

FranceThe staff: unprofessional inefficient unrespectful To be trapped far away from everything No pool , a beach not so good to stay the whole day at the hotel So you need to take a boat every day at 300 reals per person to join the harbour and take another boat for any activities but they are not always available I prefer to leave earlier than planned and loose money than to stay there more
Nice design peaceful place Good restaurant at a good price for the island
