Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceWe simply loved it ! Everything was beyond our expectations : - the room was super cute and very well decorated. All the house was so cute and calm - the hosts (Andre and Fafa) were the best. Very outgoing, kind and communicative. It was always a pleasure to meet them in the morning for breakfast - the breakfast was amazing and changing every morning. Andre himself was cooking in front of us and he was a chef for many years. You can imagine the quality of the breakfast - Plus, 3 cute doggies were on the property :) - the location of the house 10min walking from the Lagoa da Conceição was the best location you could have for Floripa (on the lagoon, not far from the most beautiful beaches and not far from Florianopolis downtown) If you are looking for a peaceful garden of Eden, o vilarejo is the place for you. We spent 6 days there and we couldn’t be happier. We highly recommend this address when visiting Floripa. Can’t wait to come back :) Nic and Flo

United StatesWhile we personally loved our experience at O Vilarejo it may not be for everyone, especially "high maintenance" or inexperienced international travelers. You need to do your homework. - You will not have the same amenities or 24/7 staff as a large chain hotel; you will be staying in a Brazilian home's guest house/accessory dwelling unit. For example, there is no business center, doorman, bell desk, or concierge, and most requests require some advance notice. O Vilarejo is more similar to an American or British "Bed and Breakfast" or "Inn" in the countryside, than a Marriott or Hyatt. Note: this is typical of Florianopolis - there are few if any large hotels on the beach. This is not Waikiki or South Beach's "resort strip". - You will be staying in a residential neighborhood, a good 30 minute Uber to the "Centro" commercial downtown of Floripa. You come here for the quiet, the natural beauty, and the exceptional beaches, far from the pulsing nightclubs of Jurere or downtown. - You are in rural Brazil, with different cultural norms, pace of life, infrastructure, and language staying in someone else's home. If you find yourself visiting Floripa on your very first international trip and don't speak any Portuguese or Spanish, you may find the experience intimidating or overwhelming. Experienced travelers, especially to South America or Brazil, will find O Vilarejo incredibly rewarding.
O Vilarejo is a large, quiet residential compound, comprised of the owner-proprietor's main house, several individual suites central kitchen, gardens, and small pool. The lovely couple who owns the property manage everything personally with an exceptional attention to detail and fantastic customer service. The included breakfast is *not* your typical coffee and pastry; it is a multi-course gourmet feast not to be missed, hand-prepared by the proprietor and his wife to your tastes using ingredients from the property and island. Everything is of the first quality. The rooms are nicely appointed, with WiFi, A/C, and, importantly, a true King Size bed (these are relatively rare in Brazil). O Vilarejo is within walking distance of both the "Praia Mole" and "Praia Joaquina" beaches, which rival anything in the Carribean, Hawaii, or Mediterranean. You can also explore the Lagoa area, Joaquina dunes, and numerous hiking trails with dramatic coastal views. The location is important as it is often difficult to persuade the local Uber drivers to pick up wet and sandy beach-goers. O Vilarejo is a perfect "base" for a beach-centric Holiday in Floripa. Above all, the O Vilarejo provides an exceptional, personalized experience. You're working directly with the owners, who I found more than willing to accommodate reasonable requests via What's App, unfettered by chain hotel or short-term rental marketplace policies. It's what AirBnb used to be years ago, before the era of mandatory 10am check outs or outrageous booking and cleaning fees. We're also big fans of their dog, Alfie!

BrazilNothing to say
It’s cozy and sofisticated, but the best part is how the owners treat you with a high level of kindness and dedication to ensure your well-being!!

AustraliaNothing.
What a gem. A big and spacious room, nicely decorated, with cute details. The sleeping corner with blackout curtains, very comfortable king bed. Quiet neighbourhood, Lagoa is very peaceful and beach-hippie like. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic, never had a service like that in my life. Attentive, made for you. Andre is very knowledgeable and skilled chef providing the exquisite food using best and healthy ingredients. His partner FaFa is so welcoming that makes you feel part of the family. Nice conversation during breakfast made our stay unforgettable. The vilarejo is our home from now on and every time we are back in Floripa. Not to mention the pets…a special thank you to Alfred, Johnny Depp and Jack the Carp fish that loves a cuddle.

RussiaNothing to write here, really
That was an absolutely marvelous stay: a beautiful, stylishly decorated, and spacious house, perfectly located in a quiet area between famous surfing beaches. But most importantly, the hosts, Andre and Fafa, are among the most hospitable people I've ever met. They cooked simply insanely tasty and generous breakfasts for me every day. Just look at these pictures! I bet you will want to skip dinners! Also, three friendly dogs and one shy turtle live here.
