Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

United KingdomNothing. You can read other comments but felt we had a good stay with no issues. Our room was small but there was a window to the back and a fan that kept any mozzirs off.
The location over the metal bridge excellent. Could see the river and boats but not hear the noise. We had a double with shared bathroom. Luckily we had a small padlock to secure our room; the adjacent room had no clasp or lock so we stored our neighbours valuables in ours. Big fridge, cooker (need a lighter), sufficient dishes and usable saucepans (we did scrambled eggs). The seating area is big with tables, a hammock and shared with 2 other apts - both which are also self contained, but the larger one has at least 9 bunk beds. Bedding clean, we got a towel each. There was a clothes line for drying and we saw a monkey and some sweet birds. All up 3 flights of steep steps so be fit! Stayed 3 nights and it was fine if you prepare for security issues Felt safe and friendly and we enjoyed our conversations with others. Didn't use the restaurant on second floor. Meals were nudging 200r for 2 and stretching our budget.

United StatesThe view from the deck is amazing. Alana is super friendly. The family's restaurant on site serves an amazing fish. The hostel is very spacious. You are very close to the start of a beautiful nature trail to Galheta beach and the nature pools are minutes away as well. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

IrelandNo secure check in. No WIFI provided. No toilet paper provided! Fridge was rusty and leaking. Shared kitchen/lounge with oven and kettle was a disgrace. Here, a resident tried to sell us necklaces and bracelets. This was the only area with a kettle so it was unavoidable. Our window did not close. It was not as per the photographs on booking.com
Cosy bed. Spacious lounge for our apartment with microwave, fridge and sink. Quiet, not many people staying at the hostel -only one other girl was staying in the apartment (she was very kind to us although we couldn't communicate well). Beautiful views. It was very responsibly priced.
