Mama Africa Hostel 2 is a beautiful and welcoming home with a vibrant colorful decor and a great vibe. Every detail is carefully curated, and you wake up to the sound of birds, surrounded by nature. Breakfast is fresh from the garden, and on weekends, it’s served at Casa da Cultura, where you can enjoy your meal while reading one of its many books. Lili is an amazing host, full of passionate energy and care. As a digital nomad, I found it perfect for work. Gamboa is a chill neighborhood with friendly people, great for a walk anytime. Its pristine beaches are within a short walk, or you can take the boat – balsa – to Morro de São Paulo anytime for 6 BRL. After a day out, I enjoyed a swim in the pool and stargazing at night.

Not a dislike, but something to note: The location is about 15 minutes from Gamboa Beach and a short drive to Morro’s popular beaches. While it’s not the quickest on foot, the walk from Gamboa to Morro’s port at low tide was amazing, and the host and services make everything smooth and easy to enjoy.

We truly appreciated the host's kindness; her home reflects her well: warm, spacious, and vibrantly decorated. The rooftop terraces, the large shared kitchen, and the peaceful room were highlights. The breakfast, lovingly homemade by the host, with fresh juice and tasty treats, was an absolute delight.

Read my other review here. Magical place! Came for some days stayed for some weeks! The interior and exterior design is top notch, very unique, I would say it's art. Great breakfast. Lilly is a super woman and I had the privilege to be her guest. There is great area to work (quiet wit great view) for digital nomads, though wifi is not super fast.

It's a little bit on the edge of town so would suit a more confident traveller. Not a busy social hostel but great to get away from from the city and see village life.

The property’s design had modern but authentic to the island. It was one of the most beautifully decorated places I’ve stayed in my whole time in SA. It was very comfortable and very clean and I felt truly at home. Little details including fresh flowers every morning on your breakfast layout and on your bed on arrival really gave extra touches. Lily the owner truly makes you feel like family, the breakfast every morning was delicious with both sweet and savoury and home made muffins of cake each morning. I couldn’t recommend this place enough I felt like I was staying with family.

Nothing I didn't like, only it would be more practical for Digital Nomads to have some table upstairs to retire from kitchen and pool áreas for work and get some sockets installed for computer and phone charging as well as near some of the beds and in the kitchen areas, where they are missing. But this is on a very high level suggestions for a specific client. Love you Lili and miss you so much!!!

Lili the Mother of the hostel is the best hostess ever!!! You imediatly feel at home and the entire hostel is just beautiful and homely, practical and makes you never want to leave again!!! And the view is spectacular over the rainforest on one side, over town and ocean on the other side. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets almost garantied. Hamocks, pool, sofá and garden are extremly beautiful.

This hostel is exceptionally beautiful. Don’t hesitate one minute to book this place. The common areas are lovely, with an ocean view, a pool and more. There are lovely little details everywhere. Breakfast varies every morning and is freshly prepared for you the moment you sit down. And more importantly it is served with love. Lilly and Noella make sure you are 100% comfortable. The wifi worked perfectly fine.
