Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The entire pousada is charming and the owners pay attention to every detail. We enjoyed afternoon coffee and very polite staff. In Ilha, the generator that Pousada declares to ha ve is very important. Fortunately, we didn't experience a power outage during our stay in June, so we can't comment on that.

ChileIf I have to say something negative, only that the beds are hard, but I love a hard mattress, my husband not so much.
Loved the Pousada, perfect location, the walk to the dock with luggage was easy. Gave us all sorts of great suggestions for things to do and where to eat. Everyone very friendly. Clean, Ac worked. Breakfast was classic Brazilian, everything you would want.

United StatesPousada Horizonte dos Borbas is located within easy walking distance of Abraao's port where passengers disembark from the ferries coming from the mainland. There are numerous restaurants, bars and supermarkets near the hotel and the trailhead to hike to Lopes Mendes Beach is just a kilometer away. The rooms are clean and comfortable with decent Wi-Fi. The hotel offers a typical Brazilian breakfast served by the very friendly morning staff. I enjoyed my stay and will stay at the hotel again if I ever return to Ilha Grande.

United Statesbecause of the high humidity, room smelled a little weird and the bathroom had some mold on the ceiling. but it didn’t bother us that much.
great staff and great location. breakfast was really good. wi-fi worked very well considering it’s on an island. bed was comfortable and tv also worked pretty, they even had cable tv :) the room looks exactly like the pictures and there was a mini bar in the room which is very convenient. GermanyWhat keeps this pousada from getting a perfect score was the room. It was horrible! We got one on the ground floor, so the only window in the room faced the middle of the facility, where there were people coming and going all day. The walls were so thin, it sounded like people were in the room with us. We could even hear the TV in the room next to ours. But the worst of all was the smell - everything smelled of mould, including the pillows. I had to use my hoodie as a pillow, since I was getting allergies (I’m not an allergic person). The towels wouldn’t dry properly in the room because of the humidity and the fact that we couldn’t leave the windows open during the day (someone could easily get in through the window) or during the night (no mosquito nets). In summary: the rooms could really use a renovation and some mosquito nets. If you stay here, definitely get a room on the first floor. It’s a shame, because apart from the room everything was perfect.
The property was beautiful, with a wonderful garden. The breakfast was delicious and the fact it was served in the garden made it even more special. The owner helped us with whatever we needed.

AustraliaThe welcome was poor, we barely got a smile off the owner and his wife in the four days we stayed there. The rooms need a lot of attention- there were holes in the walls, the tv didn’t work, the shower pressure was terrible and the towels were clean but threadbare. We had heard about the afternoon tea but there was no milk and not much to eat.
Location was good. A very short walk from everything. Breakfast was varied and in a nice central breakfast area.

United KingdomI booked this place for 4 nights after seeing such good reviews on here but was disappointed on arrival and struggled to understand why people have been scoring it so high. The property did meet my basic needs but I was expecting better. Staff on reception weren’t rude but never appeared happy or welcoming. The room was basic and looked dated but it had the essentials and the bed was comfortable enough. The air con worked but was stupidly loud.
Location is good. Very close to the centre of town so not far to walk with bags from the pier after getting off the ferry. Bed was comfortable. Nice to have a fridge in the room. Good choice at breakfast. Decent Wi-Fi. Great daily service by house keeping.

United KingdomAll the rooms are motel-style, so they open up to the walkway. My 'garden view' was a view of some corrugated roofs, as there is no garden any more. The safe in my room didn't work (and the manager who had the key to fix it was away). At a beach resort, you really need a safe place to lock your stuff while you swim. And my room didn't get made up. On the second day, I realised there was a sign to hang on the door to ask for it to be made up. But as I had to leave cards and passport in the room to swim, it didn't seem like a great idea. Also note that they take full payment well in advance. Overall, it was okay but over-priced.
The hotel is in a great location- just a couple of minutes from beach and shops, but fairly quiet. Breakfast is good, and it's served in a lovely thatched courtyard area. My room was comfortable
