Excellent location, beautiful property, best breakfast in all of our Brazilian trip, thank you to Esmeralda. Carlos went above and beyond to make sure we had the experiences tailored to us on our visit to the beautiful Ilha Grande.

Everything ! Esmeralda and Carlos were so welcoming and kind. Carlos helped us organise our stay, and recommended us a guided tour to hike to Pico do Papagaio (an unforgettable experience). The breakfast is really good, especially the home made smoothies !! The room is clean, and the location is perfect, right in front of the beach.

What a stunning guest house which is right on the beach. I loved staying here and would highly recommend. Esmerelda and Carlos are friendly and really helpful. They take care of you as if you’re family. They make big delicious fresh breakfasts, book trips for you, give you advice on travel plans and tell you about the history of the island. My room was comfy and very clean.

There is from time to time limited electricity in the island - and happened one of the nights. Still this did not affect us as the house has back up option. I would go again

Esmeralda is a lovely caring hostess. The house is beautiful clean and quiet je breakfast is superb!! Carlos is also very helpful with tips and suggestions. Sleeping and waking up to the bird sound was priceless

Beautiful property. Esmeralda and Carlos were incredible in making sure that our stay was filled with fun activities, good food, and a relaxing stay. And perfect location right on the sand by the center. Couldn’t recommend it more.

Everything was good! A mosquito net to be installed in the room window could be a good idea.

Our stay at Aretê was great! Esmeralda is a lovely host, she prepares a very good and fresh breakfast every day, and makes the most to make you feel comfortable. Carlos was simply amazing: he was clear in explanation ,and helped us a lot to plan tours , gave us good suggestion where to go and what to do. Besides he also speaks English (not that common in Brazil) and Spanish as well as Portuguese. Highly recommended!

Esmeralda makes the most wonderful breakfast with homemade jams, cakes, fresh cut fruit and made to order eggs. Carlos helped us book the perfect boat tours each day and knows all the best spots! Location is the best right on the water but far enough from town for quiet !

We loved it! If you have suitcases as opposed to backpacks maybe message ahead and Carlos can help arrange someone to help you across the beach with them as there's a small bit which is a bit tricky. Or alternatively there are people at the ferry port who offer this service (barrows) for some reals.

Location is fabulous, right on the main beach near the ferry port. Near all main attractions but still quiet and set back. Esmeralda is a lovely kind woman and makes a great breakfast and keeps the place spotless. Carlos is a lovely bloke and a tour guide himself so he has top-notch knowledge of the island and helped us arrange a fabulous all day multi island/beach tour which was one of the highlights of our stay in Rio. They were very kind and sympathetic when one of us had sunstroke as well. As other reviewers have mentioned this is a home stay (the hosts plus two guest rooms) rather than a hotel/hostel, so if you don't want the personal touch it's not for you. However if you want a great value, location, clean room with good facilities and kind and friendly hosts, book in here!

Well, unfortunately, the weather wasn’t in our favour as it rained some of the days; but this is the risk of being inside the Atlantic rainforest.

My husband and I had the loveliest time in this paradise. The B&B was on the beach and we could sleep listening to the soft sound of the waves. The owners were very kind and welcoming; they provided us good advice and suggestions about what to do, places to eat and advised about the day trips on and around the island. The breakfast was great and in the afternoon we always spent some time with the owners chatting away. Definitely a place to enjoy !

In peak season is very common to have power outage in ilha grande, luckily they do have a generator but unfortunately it broke on our first night and we didn’t have power at night until the end of our stay. But I saw her putting a lot of effort into getting it fixed.

Esmeralda’s house is just lovely, a great and cozy place to spend time in. She is a great host, always lovely to us, took such good care of us, always communicating via WhatsApp, when she noticed we liked the fruit she made an effort to have more of it and in variety. She and Carlos were very attentive to us all the time.
