Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe reception person gave me a room that was substandard to my listing (a garden view). When he changed my room, the new room had not yet been cleaned, and it took several attempts w receptionist to do so (and 4 hours!) Also, it’s not clear from property images that one option for rooms is a building about 500 meters from the main reception/dining area. It is across the road from ocean. Lastly when it came time to pay my bill I was overcharged. We agreed on a total amount in dollars, but the fcfa was $5 higher when converted. He said it was because of tax, however the agreed dollar price had already included tax as was stated on the booking.com confirmation.
Eugene was very nice. He was the GM, and got things done.

Nigeria1. The wifi wasn’t good. I advice you get a sim or roam 2. They do not have standard plugs, so I also advice you bring an adaptor 3. The property doesn’t have electricity till 5pm and unless you’re out and about, that maybe not be ideal 4. They don’t accept transfers or card, so make sure you bring cash
The stay at Auberge de grand popo was nothing short of an amazing experience. The property is Serene and literally a beautiful escape. The staff was very accommodating. We needed a cake and in less than 24 hours they were able to bake one. On our last night, they go drummers and dancers to entertain us which is a plus.

NigeriaThe room I stayed in was really small. The bathroom was extra small and there was no hot water. Also, the facilities look old and need renovation. I was disappointed by the maintenance of the pool. It has so much potential but it is not being cleaned. And weeds are allowed to grow around it.
I liked that the rooms and environment were generally quiet and relaxing. It felt really good to wake up to the sound of the waves and ocean. The entire ambience was peaceful and charming. The complete breakfast was good.

GermanyRoom smelled mouldy, the moisture from the ocean breeze covered all surfaces with a slight moisture; Water only worked intermittently, but large bucket was provided; Didn’t offer card payment, so had to travel 15km to the next town (Comé) to draw Cash.
Great restaurant with superb food and super friendly staff, exceptional Negroni; Pool was right next door with view onto the beach; They had great seating options right under shading mini huts right on the beach, 10m from the ocean

AustriaUnfortunately there were too many little things, that in the end didn't justify the price in my opinion. My sheets smelled clean, but they had stains on them. The matress was rock hard. The bathroom was tiny - barely space to stand for a shower. The toilet seat could need urgent replacement and the shower head wouldn't hold on the wall. Also the AC has draining pipe into the bathroom that drips on the floor while AC is on. There's no breakfast included, so I ordered fruit salad, which seemed to be from the previous day, as the fruit pieces (included cocktail cherries from some strange reason) arrived slimey. Coffee was good though. On arrival I asked to pay in dollars, which was no problem, but on departure they overcharged me by 25% in exchange rate. Which is ridiculous, but since I didn't have enough xof I had no other choice. (staff was friendly throughout arguments) Make sure to bring enough local currency - there are no atms in grand popo. Also I had to insist on the genius discount from booking.com.
I'm bit torn about this place. It's definitely a peaceful spot with a luxurious touch to it. Right at the beach and lots of Palm trees around. Staff was very Friendly and helpful. Got my laundry done within half a day (11 items for 3,500xof is bit pricey, but it came all back fresh).

GreeceOur check in was not the smoothest. Some of the staff members are rather indifferent. Rooms are ageing .Bathroom was tiny and shower had minimal water pressure. No wifi in the room, had to walk near the main building and reception area to get a proper signal.
Top location!Sitting under the coconut trees with a cold beninoise ,catching the sea breezes and watching the fishermen pulling their nets gives you moments of pure bliss. The small salt water pool is a big bonus on a hot day. Food served on the openair verandah was delicious, though portions were average and rather pricey.

Nigeria1. My booking was completed in Naira, and I expected that, at the most, payment would be made in CFA at the current exchange rate. At the reception, though, my bill was in Euros (converted to CFA), which spiked my budget, quite a bit. 2. THE WIFI! Just don't book any of the rooms by the garden if you are someone who loves to be connected to the world wide web. 3. Apparently, the breakfast isn't complimentary as they claim everywhere you try to place a booking.
I generally enjoyed my stay at Auberge; the service was great, and the environment and locals were awesome

United StatesWe went into our stay for one night at the Auberge with some expectations that were not met. The A/C in the rooms barely functioned at best and did not function at worst. The showers did not really work and the view of the ocean from the rooms "with a view ocean" were obscured by trees (no fault of the trees).
Although the hotel itself seems like a place that's kind of coming apart, the staff were helpful and friendly.

PortugalThe location of the place is great. The staff is accommodating. The restaurant doesn't have any local dishes on the menu, but when I asked for them, the staff were happy to prepare them for me. The breakfast was good too. They also help you to organise excursions to La Bouche du Roi. However, it's not advisable to swim on the beach as the ocean there is strong. But you can take a dip in the salty swimming pool, which is great. If you're not in the mood for swimming, you can also relax in the hammocks.
