How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

It was our first stay and we loved the breakfast selection, the quiet location near the sea, the clean room and cozy bed, the pool area and the lunch menu. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. In short: We got everything we were looking for and truly enjoyed our vacation!

15 min. walk to main beach and 25 min. walk to Sozopol city centre . On a hot day it can be a long unshaded journey . You have seaview all the way but it's not a pleasant walk . Taxi's ( which are plentiful in summer ) from city centre take about 5 min and costs around 15-20 Lv (10€) which is for a Bulgarian short taxiride a scam !
Very nice friendly helpful staff . We were the only English speaking residents . It can be hard to find staff that speaks English . Very relaxed atmosphere in the beautiful patio . Pool ( around 10 by 5 m) excellent for a cool dive after a hot sunny day . Little adjacent pool for children . Pool open all day long so when you come home from the beach you can have a refreshing dive ! Fabulous seaview from the balcony . 2 good restaurants very close ( 3 min. walk) to the hotel . Other restaurants or bars are to be found in the city centre . Room very good with good bed . We slept like babies ! Breakfast OK

Room and bathroom were a bit small, specifically the shower area. A bit far away from the old part of town, takes about 30 mins.
Breakfast was great, enough differences each day not to get repetitive. Staff was very polite. Room and pool were clean. Rooms on upper floors have a great view. Very quiet location, perfect for relaxing.

The location is far from the downtown area but close to some nice beaches.
Everything was clean, the staff was very nice and helpful and very positive. The food was very good now only the included breakfast but in general.

Nothing stood out to me as bad. The only recommendation I can provide is to add a space where guests can be loud and have a drink at the latter hours of the night.
Our stay at the Melia Mar was absolutely flawless. The hotel is modern, clean, and incredibly welcoming. What truly made our trip unforgettable, however, was the staff. Every single employee was warm, professional, and went above and beyond to make our stay special. Their proactive and genuinely caring service is the heart of this hotel and turns a great vacation into a five-star experience. We cannot recommend it highly enough and are already planning our next visit!

There were pest-repellent devices that were making annoying sounds on regular intervals. Luckily, the hotel staff removed them immediately upon requesting.

To be honest the "triple room" was not the same as in the photo, but anyway it was very good!
Location. Although it was a little bit far from Sozopol it took us 30 minutes to reach the far end. It is in a quiet area, restaurants and supermarket just around the corner. Clean, awsome staff.

The air-conditioning in our room leaked for a bit, but it was resolved. It was a little nosy outside.
Everything was a perfect fit for us. The hotel has a very helpful and kind staff, the rooms are clean and tidy and the breakfast was exceptional!

There are great breakfasts witch changes every day . Fresh fruits and vegetables and some kind of cake . Thanks again for the gluten free bread they give to my girlfriend and have to say that those girls who work on reception and breakfast table have their 24 karat smiles are always ready to help

If I really need to find something negative then maybe rooms are a bit small and slightly dated, but they still have all you need. That I could not extend for even longer :)
Definitely my favorite hotel, at least so far and if I come back to Sozopol, I know where I will stay. Breakfast is fully domestic with wonderful and authentic tastes of this part of the world. They have nice coffee from the machine and if that is not enough for you, ladies will make you one from Lavazza capsules. As If perfect breakfast is not enough, pool is also in perfect condition. Water is salty and cleaned regularly. Although relatively small, it was not crowded and we have spent more than half a day here every day. Communication with hosts was amazing and they were always eager to help however they can. They have a parking, but they share with couple of others, may get crowded.

The parking is 5 min away and the surroundings are quite packed with other hotels. The hotel is accessible only through stairs. A bit of a walk to the beach and quite a long walk to the area with restaurants and the old town.
The friendliest service I have ever experienced in Bulgaria! Great breakfast with good food variety. A new hotel with modernly furnished rooms including a fridge. Nice green area with a pool in the yard. Located in the outskirts of Sozopol, which makes it very quiet. A grocery store and a bakery are just around the corner.
