We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Emma. The surroundings are peaceful and picturesque, offering a perfect retreat. What amazed us was the convenience—it took us only about ten minutes to get to the downtown area by bus. Best of all, the host was exceptional. They were so welcoming and attentive, giving us great local tips and making sure we had everything we needed. We felt truly well taken care of.

Lovely place that feels like 'home', only a short distance from Ghent
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children
    • Quadruple Room
    • Stayed 2 nights

The rooms felt quite cold at night (the heating turns off automatically, as we heard from the hosts). This would not have been an issue for me and my husband as we stayed well covered under the duvet but this was not possible to control for our 2-year-old son. He already had a bit of a cold when we arrived at the property and the low temperature in his room made things worse. I believe the hosts would have accommodated if I had let them know in advance, unfortunately I realised the issue too late.

Lovely stay with lots of personal touches from the hosts i.e. candy left on our pillows, superb breakfast presented beautifully, our room was incredibly well-equipped with a super complete minibar and everything else we could possibly need, we also loved the books/pens provided to keep our toddler busy! This really felt like being 'at home' :-)

    Nothing.

The house is a fabulous late Victorian era (in the UK it would be, I don't know what era that is in Belgium!?!) villa set in beautiful grounds. We had the Acacia room, it was lovely and clean and nicely decorated, with a sitting area with a couple of armchairs and a separate bedroom off this with a spiral staircase up to the ensuite. The double bed was big, (super kingsize I think), and there was a single bed on a mezzanine in the turret above the sitting area which is fun, but a little precarious to climb up, so not suitable for very young kids or elderly people. Georges and Hilda are lovely hosts and the breakfasts were fantastic, homemade bread, apple pie, yoghurt, pastries, cheese, charcuterie, eggs, bacon - we didn't need lunch. Hilda explained the buses, and it was easy to get in to the center of Ghent and back, on the no.10 bus from a nearby bus stop. It was a lovely peaceful location and the garden was beautiful with plenty of wildlife to watch - brown squirrels, ducks and birds.

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Emma. The room was both luxurious and charming at the same time. The bed was very comfortable. There were even board games and puzzles to play. The owners were very accommodating and professional. To cap off the stay, we were provided a sumptuous and delicious breakfast.

There is nothing not to like about this property. Our rooms were on the third floor but the hosts even helped us carry our luggage upstairs so it was not a drawback at all! The room was a little warm the first night, but the host showed us the controls and we cranked it down and it was fine the second night. These were not draw-backs - only observations. This is a fabulous stay!

What is not to like about this property? The building itself is historic and absolutely charming. The rooms were spacious and clean and efficient. The bathroom was large and updated upstairs with a soaking tub. There was also a bathroom one floor below with a shower. It was nice to have access to two bathrooms for our party of 3. The breakfast was phenomenal in presentation and quality - like a 3-course meal. But the absolute best thing about this property was the charming hosts. They could not have been more accommodating, more delightful, and more helpful. Great convenient parking as well! Easy drive to fabulous Ghent - one of our favorite stops on this trip!

The house and grounds are beautiful, and the hosts are very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was wonderful, with many homemade treats and more food than we could eat! It's about a 20-minute walk into the city, and there are some restaurants and places to buy food even closer.

If you have heavy cases it could be difficult because you the rooms are on the second floor. No elevator of course. No TV in the Bedroom. Flat-TV is a bit older.

You will be welcome in a very personell way. Everything will be shown and explained in detail. It is very charming. Beautiful garden view. The breakfast is a very special highlight. You can order some egg however you would like to enjoy. Homemade bread, Homemade jelly. Regional supplies. Very quite place to be.

A lovely quirky B&B with easy access to Gent

On the basis that the description said it has a refrigerator we had brought some food items which needed to be kept cold but there was only a well stocked minibar which we had to empty items out of first. It also says electric kettle but in fact it was a Lavazza machine with a hot water spout. Beyond an arrival gift pack with one tea bag and one coffee pod you are expected to purchase additional items which seems a bit unusual. But otherwise everything was very thoughtful. The apartment is on the second floor up four flights of quite steep stairs – they owner kindly carried our luggage up – but you do need to be aware if you have difficulty with stairs.

A very attentive B&B in a lovely period property with a beautiful garden. We were warmly greeted and given lots of information about Gent plus offered bus tickets for the local service. There was plenty of parking which felt safe and secure to leave items in the car. We had apartment Tilia which is very spacious with a huge bed plus another room with bunk beds if you had a family. The bathroom is also large and bright and very well appointed with everything thought of. There are big windows and plenty of natural light. Breakfast was largely homemade and prepared lovingly with lots of nice ideas. There were local cold meats and cheeses and a hot option as well. The B&B is about 15 minutes from the old centre by bus no 10, an easy journey. We arrived on a Monday night and walked out to find a restaurant but they were all closed on Mondays! There is a Proxy supermarket 10 minutes walk away with a good selection of takeaway food (although a lot of it needs warming up) so we had a nice picnic in the lovely garden.

Nothing, we had a great time and everything was as it should be.

It was a beautiful building with lots of character, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable and in a great location as it is only a 10 minute bus ride from the centre of town. The hosts were also fantastic and the breakfast was amazing with lots of homemade bread and pies. I would recommend to anyone to stay here.
