Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Wonderful boutique hotel. This hotel looks amazing, the rooms are spacious with a very tasteful interior. The people who run this hotel do this work with full commitment and dedication. This is the best place to stay in Mechelen! Amazing breakfast!

Everything! The entire B&B and the room were beautifully decorated and nicely outfitted. Kurt was a kind, knowledgeable host who made our stay memorable. His breakfast, especially the eggs, will live in our memory forever. Beyond delicious!

We just had the most perfect weekend in this B&B. Everything was just perfect, great location, great rooms with comfy beds and superb bathroom. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the hosts were very welcoming and charming. Really recommended!

I like everything. I cannot say anything negative about the room or property.
Our host Kurt was absolutely so wonderful and kind and made us feel very welcomed. I normally don’t wrote reviews but I would be doing a disfavor if I didn’t. I even overslept after my stay and he was kind to let us have a few extra minutes for checkout. Absolutely a great host and the location was perfect.

Fabulous boutique bnb in beautiful Mechelen. The passion of Kurt the host was the highlight, together with the delicious breakfast he prepares to each guest’s preferences.

The bathroom had a glass door, but we made it work. We used a lapa/beach sarong, and everything was great!
Great location and walking distance from the train station. Clean rooms!! Kurt was very friendly, professional, and accommodating. He even allowed us to check in early. He provided a great history of Mechelen and the area. I loved the shower and the natural products (shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner). I definitely would stay there again!

Kurt was a fantastic host, very friendly, open and helpful. I really liked the room - size, organic bathroom accessories and the shower :) Bed was very comfortable and had a nice sleep. Got personalised breakfast with juice, bread, jam from local sources and scrambled eggs from Porta' own chickens.

The property owner or manager idk who it is came into my room while I was gone and went through my stuff to take a photo of a glass I used as an ashtray and accused me of smoking in the room and may charged me €200 for an assumption… I’m a 22 year old girl staying by myself I’m genuinely so disturbed and scared to be having to sleep here tonight it’s currently 2am and I can’t sleep cause of this experience, not to mention I brought a friend home from Tomorrowland to hang out with me and I was told I wasn’t allowed any visitors even though I paid for 2 people to be here and my friend who was supposed to be staying couldn’t come anymore which is why a friend I happen to run into at the festival offered to get me home safely. He knocked on my door almost every single morning and woke me up. Genuinely so disgusted with this place and would not recommend anyone stay here unless you want to feel extremely uncomfortable and scared for your privacy. Cant believe a grown man would go through a 22 year old girls room who’s alone and I still do not know when he chose to do that which is what is even creepier like was he waiting for me to leave to go to Tomorrowland yesterday? Was it when I was sleeping? I haven’t left the room today besides to quickly go down and grab Uber eats so overall terrible experience and can’t stress enough DO NOT STAY HERE.
