Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMy room was clearly not one of the ones that had been renovated, which was contrary to my expectations from the photographs on the website. No doubt this will be sorted soon.
The Flandria is obviously a work in progress, under new management, hence my OK, but not yet excellent review. But... it has great charm and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

New ZealandNo tea making facilities in the room. No hot water in bedroom hand basin. Similarly, there is no hot water in the toilet hand basin, which makes shaving a problem. The room could have been vacuumed to Pike up grub
Central location. The view was good from our room at the front of the hotel. It should be remembered that the hotel is currently being done up.

The location of the hotel was superb, 5 minutes walk to the centre of this amazing city. We found the hotel to be perfect for a short stay. The breakfast was great and our rooms were more than adequate. It had a really nice atmosphere and all the staff we had contact with were really helpful and friendly. For us this place was perfect for a short stay. If we ever go back to ghent we would definitely stay again.

NetherlandsMy room was delivered later than the checkin time. And I went to the room twice to see it was not cleaned yet. There was a communication issue between the reception and the cleaning personnel. I think not enough personnel for cleaning available. Later, I was changed to another room on the rooftop. And the lady from the reception did her best to compansate the situation. The view was great however it was freezing. The heating was not sufficient and it was very loud.
The personnel was very kind, friendly and helpful. The location is very close to the city center and everywhere you want to see. It was clean.

AzerbaijanThe hotel serves its primary purpose well. If you’re not paying for five stars, there’s no reason to expect caviar for breakfast or luxurious rooms. The staff is very friendly and does their best to make your modest stay more comfortable and cozy. With a good location and a decent breakfast, it’s a suitable option for a short stay in this beautiful little town.

Czech RepublicThe room has thin walls, so we heard both crying of a baby for several hours next door and quite a big noise after 10 pm from above. But you can not choose neighbours, right. Otherwise, we were satisfied with our stay.
The location is in the very city centre. The stuff was very kind and the breakfast sufficient, with more choices than we expected ( even though no fruit/vegetable/hot dish). But as I said, it was ok. The room we got was quite small but we stayed there mostly only during the night so we did mind. The negative side can be shared bathroom.

ArgentinaThe "double bed" was actually two single beds put together (not sure if they have actually 2 beds). The room was a bit small, it was not easy
The location is great, you can visit the center by foot without problems. The staff was also really helpful, they explained everything warmly and allowed us to adjust a few last minutes issues.

United KingdomThe decoration was very tired and scruffy. This is not a three star hotel. I would say two star. The shower cubicle leaked a little bit and hot water from the shower took a long while to warm up. The stairs are incredibly steep so not recommended for anyone with mobility issues. I think the hotel was overpriced for what it was, although we did book it with only half a days notice so we may have paid a premium?
Location was excellent. Very quiet road but in easy walking distance of all the lovely parts of the city. The lady at reception was wonderful and very, very helpful. She gave us a map and lots of tips about where to go. The building is quaint and historic with a lot of character.

ItalyA part from the huge dead spider( sometimes it can happen) the room was not thoroughly cleaned and when they came to organize the room in the daily check they placed our new clean towels but didn't clean the room/organized the beds. When we did check out they didn't even asked us how was our stay Small things that can easily be fixed but it's all about the management

GermanyWe didn't have blankets as it got cold in the night. There also wasn't a clothes rack ( but had hangers) so didn't really have a space to hang our clothes.
The room was small but enough for two since it was a budget room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a cute vibe and is within walking distance to the center, which was great! Was initially worried that the toilet would be dirty since it was shared, but it was clean.

PortugalThe lock on our room had a problem so multiple times we had to struggle for minutes to get in, after the reception closed. Hope they have fixed that. It's an old-looking room, smallish, high step to the tiny bathroom, but nothing worth complaining about! The bathroom wasn't even booked and as for the room just wish the curtains blocked the light more but to be honest that's always expected. We stayed in Antwerp, Ghent, and Bruges and this was the most expensive stay but the unexpected "upgrade" was worth it.
We were lucky to end up with a private bathroom instead of a shared one - I could see it was not the nicest of their rooms/bathrooms but more than we expected so a very welcomed surprise! The room had extra pillows, a fan, and a mosquito net in one of the windows. Late self check-in was easy, staff was very nice and helpful, and the 12€ buffet breakfast was good namely considering Belgium prices. Reception and breakfast room nicely decorated.

BrazilIt's only one key for room, so with you travelling with someone that won't be with you all the time, the logistic can be a trick. Also, the reception doesn't stay open that long.
The location was perfect, and the staff so nice. It's more like a hostel-hotel, but that was not a problem, because I was expecting that. And it's a pretty quiet location.

CanadaNeed lighter weight blankets- room isn’t air conditioned so it was warm in July and I only had a heavy duvet- not even a light weight sheet.
I red some of the poor reviews - I was pleasantly surised. This place was fine. Not a luxury hotel but an old fashioned boutique hotel run by Betty Bijoux

Germanythe access to the rooms is by high stairs, and at the same time it feels like a labyrinth on the floors.
the hotel has a classic decoration at the entrance. The staff is very friendly, and it is possible to schedule breakfast at check in. Access to the rooms is by high stairs, a bit confusing, and at the same time, not very convenient for carrying heavy suitcases up or down. The rooms are small and fairly furnished, although in general both the building and the furnishings could use some updating. Breakfast is fair, although there are not many options to choose from, and in general the same variety is offered every day.
