Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumCoffee machine was broken, and the shower didn’t drain well at all, which made taking a shower slightly stressful as the water filled up the tray. Tvs in bedroom also didn’t work, not a big deal though. I’m not sure how I feel about the sofa bed already being made when we got there. It’s a nice gesture but we had no sofa to sit on.
Lovely apartment, as advertised. Very comfortable and clean. Small improvements could make it better.

United KingdomThe Velux window blinds were broken and bizarrely, whilst there was plenty of hot water, we were staying during a heatwave and couldn’t get the shower cold enough.
A beautifully presented apartment with huge rooms and very centrally located in the city centre.

United KingdomSteep stairs (but that's a cultural quirk of the Low Countries). Occasionally noisy at night-time. Lacks toaster and cafetière. It is a bit tired and requires some maintenance. No batteries in bathroom AC controller. (and in hot weather the upper floor is hot). Ice-maker in freezer door is broken. Light switch for bathroom/toilet is erratic (semi-dysfunctional). The window blinds in second bedroom are badly torn: unusable for excluding light. Mattresses very soft and the main bedroom one felt worn and uneven. Shower won't run fully cold. It feels like it needs 500-1000 euros and a day's TLC to bring this gorgeous flat back up to scratch. 15 years of operation have taken their toll.
Location is wonderful for exploring centre of Ghent. Right next to bridge over the river. Beautiful airy sitting room with windows/French doors front and back; well-equipped kitchen, big fridge; two dining tables, high ceilings m; modern paintings and prints, spacious bedrooms and big bathroom. Utility room.

United KingdomThe host was not very communicative - after booking I had a query about the configuration of beds which went unanswered for a month. Unfortunately, given the number of stairs, the lift is not in service, which wasn't great for getting luggage into the apartment, as I have a hip injury.
Very spacious apartment on two floors, in an excellent location for historic city centre and shops. Big rooms, high ceilings and the kitchen was well equipped for our short stay.

United StatesThere was a lot of stairs that it doesn’t speak about in the description. There are four sets in one of the apartments. There is a loft but it was unreliable and kept getting stuck. There was no hand soap in the entire house and only one dish towel. A couple windows and lights were broken.
The location was great and the amount of space. The rooms were comfortable and the kitchen had a good amount of plates and tools for cooking. Was nicely decorated and right on the canal.

United StatesRented for a base to explore Ghent and Brugge, and it was excellent for that. Located right along river, short walks to sights and plenty of restaurants, one right at entrance. Very nice property, larger than expected inside, clean and comfortable. Would rent here again. Well equipped for groups, wish we had taken advantage of kitchen/dining area. But only 1 keyset was provided, which created hassle for 3 people wanting to come and go separately. There are a lot of stairs-from entrance lobby to apartment entrance floor to living area floor to bedrooms/bath floor. There is an elevator to help with luggage at least. Washer and dryer very much appreciated. Skylight window covers in bedrooms need attention-would not open without fear of tearing them.

United StatesA few things were not perfect and considering the price I would hope for greater attention to detail. For example, the laundry room had clothes left from a previous guest and a very dirty dryer lint catcher. There was not drying rack if you didnt use the dryer. The toilet roll holder was broken and sharp. There was absolutely no soap, even hand soap in the bathrooms. No hand towels provided to dry your hands and only one kitchen towel to dry dishes. The wifi was unreliable. Also the elevators was a little sketch and got stuck sometimes. Overall we really liked the property but these little things add up.
Huge apartment with 2 levels (the 2 bedroom one). The beds were comfortable and things were clean. The location was impeccable. Highly recomend this place.

SwitzerlandJust a small issue with the shower, but nothing out of the expected for an old house pipes system.
The location is perfect, just one block away from the main street and square. Furniture and design are quite remarkable, same as the quality of the bed and sofabed. Instructions were absolutely clear and helpful, even for an easy early check-in.

United KingdomThe curtains in the main bedroom didn't fit the windows, overlooking a pavement and with bright street lights at night, this was the worst thing. There was a note saying please don't remove the toiletries, but there was only an empty hand wash, nothing else. There was mould in the shower.
The location was excellent.
