Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Despite being on a side street we found it pretty noisy overnight until about 2am on the days that were sunny (the one rainy evening was quiet), which meant those in the front bedroom didn’t sleep all that well .
Central location so easy to access local area Comfortable beds Good facilities, nice to have a small outdoor space too (we were in the self contained 2 bed apartment).

The rooms are located upstairs. A very small lift is available but our room still required us to navigate a small tight stair case. Unfortunately a bright light on the WiFi router made the room bright. The aircon units were underpowered.
Located close to the beach and harbour area down a quiet side street. We were lucky and the hotel were able to provide a secure car parking space in there garage. At a cost of €25. The room was very clean with a modern bathroom. The large bed had a nice memory foam type mattress. The room rate included a superb breakfast. A huge amount of choice of both hot and cold food. Terrific value for money.

The location was excellent as everywhere was within walking distance. The selection of beers is amazing and the food served in the restaurant was excellent. Would definitely stay here again.

Corridors and common areas weren't very clean or welcoming.
Spacious room with comfortable bed and nice shower. Delicious breakfast. Attached pub provided tasty food and good choice of beers and other drinks.

Lovely room lots of nice touches really comfortable bed and it was so nice to have a fridge and somewhere to sit excellent bathroom The food in the bar was very good as was the number of beers

Only that the restaurant and bar was shut one day at lunchtime.
I liked the bar and the food- the location was very good too. Also being a family run business gave it that personal touch.

I don’t know what we would have done if we had returned to the hotel after the bar had closed as the front door to the hotel was locked and there was no obvious way to get in.
Nicely beer themed and with a fantastic bar attached.

The shower area is a bit slippery when it is wet and soapy.
The location is perfect, walking distance to the center and also the beach. Lots of restaurants around the neighborhood. Even though they have limited parking spaces but there is a few public car parks around it with less than 500m. Our room was big and clean. Breakfast is excellent and their coffee is best.

We stayed on a Wednesday which is the day the pub is shut. So evening meal obtained elsewhere. Plenty of choices nearby.
Great location just off sea front Oostende. Comfortable room. Great choices at breakfast. A lift to all floors.

Absolutely nothing!
What a surprise! I wish we could have stayed longer, but it was only for a night. Two blocks from the beach, huge rooms, and wonderful breakfast. The two people who worked there were incredibly friendly and helpful.

We loved everything.
Everything was exceptional, Room was bigger than we expected, breakfast had a good variety. the staff were very friendly. We will certainly make this our choice next year when we come back.
