Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaMy recent stay at Garden Cottage, St Kilda was perfect in every way. Host Prue was very welcoming, kind and helpful. The cottage is tastefully presented, well appointed and I loved its secluded, very quiet and peaceful setting. The cosy, sunny patio was a bonus. It’s all about location and Garden Cottage delivered in spades, as it was close to public transport and many of Melbourne’s main attractions. I made very good use of the fully equipped modern kitchenette and my bed was so warm and comfortable, I slept like a baby from the first night. If you’re looking for ambience, comfort and convenience that’s well-priced, look no further than Garden Cottage. Thank you Prue. I hope to return sometime in the future. Gwendoline

Location was central St Kilda, all amenities in walking distance. Tram and Bus Stops metres away. Cottage was very private and secluded given its location. Prue was a great host and very helpful with suggesting things and communicating when needed. Would stay again.

United KingdomReally it was all so good we have absolutely nothing negative to say :)
This is truly a beautiful garden studio cottage set in lovely greenery with two small terraces providing both sunny and shady areas - and a wooden table and umbrella outside. Stunning studio with great design, decoration and colours, a well-equppied kitchen, quality bedding and towels plus lovely bathroom toiletries. Fab position, right near cafes, shops and supermarket, plus close to St Kilda Botanical Gardens and St Kilda beach. Also great transport into the city (trams and buses). It's set right off the main street in a wonderful oasis-like area that is unbelievably quiet, cool and private when you step in. Incredible!!!! Plus Prue the host is an absolute delight. She shared her love of people, travelling and Melbourne and was inspiring and helpful about what to do and how. She also leaves an extensive collection of visitor information about local attractions and good restaurant recommendations. A big thank you to Prue for helping make sure we had the best stay possible. We'll definitely come back to this little paradise again :)

United StatesNothing. It’s lovely and so is the host, Prue.
We had a wonderful time while staying at this delightful cottage. The proximity to the colorful and artsy shopping and dining in St.Kilda was extremely convenient and fun. The nearby botanical gardens and of course the tiny penguins were an extra treat! I am sorry we couldn’t stay longer. This is my second time to Australia and my first to Victoria. Between the flora, the fauna, and the incredibly kind, Australian people, it was an ideal trip. As a bonus for me, we were able to see one large and two little possums climbing the tree outside the window! I love animals and I love Australia 🇦🇺! Thank you so much!

Australiathe access road was a bit messy due to a one-off incident. It was being fixed when we left so I am sure the next guests will have it easy.
The best part about this property is the proximity to restaurants and the tram station. We visited without a car and it was so easy to get around. Prue was such a lovely host and looked after us in every way. 10 on 10 for location and host.

AustraliaWas attending a two day conference in St Kilda so booked three nights. The cottage was amazing! Great location in a garden setting in the middle of St Kilda. At night it was so quiet I could have been in the middle of the country, rather than a busy inner suburb. The cottage is a very roomy studio, with a very comfortable bed, well equipped kitchenette, lounge and dining area. It has two outdoor seating areas; a table with four chairs on the front deck area and a private garden spot at the rear of the cottage, through the French doors from the lounge area. Great for a stay of several days. Prue is an amazing host, very welcoming and knowledgable with great and clear communication leading up to my stay and was there to welcome me on arrival. Cannot speak too highly of the cottage and have already recommended it to several friends.
