How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The television didn't work and the bedside lamp was also blown so reading at night meant the big light had to be on. There was also no remote for the television.

We booked, and paid for, a triple room (1D1S). Upon checkin advised this had been changed to a double without notification. When queried it was stated this was based on the booking being for 2 people and they were “very busy”. Was Offered a balcony room for one of our two nights, “if we wanted to pay extra”. Presumptuous to assume that the 2 guests were a couple, or even a couple who share a bed. Disappointing attitude from staff in relation to this action.
Location was excellent, easy access to upstairs room with key, secure as only available to staying guests.

Better checking by staff of facilities in rooms, but the reception staff handled things very well.
Location was great. Our room had a fridge that wasn't working, but the staff were great and we were moved to another room. The TV remote control wasn't working, but again the the staff were great and the problem resolved.

Our car was able to be left in the car park at the back of the hotel. We had to lug luggage through the car park, down the outside stairs, through the hotel, up two sets of stairs and around several corridors to our room. The window was so high you couldn't see out to see the ocean properly.
The room was spacious and the beds were super comfy. We chose to have a room overlooking the ocean. The shared kitchen allowed us to make our own breakfast.

Uncomfortable bed and pillows. Other guests walking along wooden floors and shutting their room doors was noisy.

Wayyyyy too noisy, not sound proof at all, facilities are very dated. Do event during the night I stayed, the music and the people could be hard until midnight. Staff is ok friendly

No where to sit and enjoy view from room. This was why asked for room with view.
Didn’t use the breakfast. Room only for sleeping in and disappointed not have chairs to sit at window and look out. Room uncomfortable to hang out in. Had to go out. This wasn’t what I was expecting.

Music playing on during night until 3.00am. We did not know this when we booked in. After booking, saw the notification with this reminder. Messaged the hotel to get a quiet room but no reply received. Managed to sleep but woke up several time.
Location is brilliant. Love the view. Love the kitchen area.

Rooms a little dated and rough around the edges (e.g. old school ensuite, floorboards quite scuffed up, cobwebs around the windows). Housekeeping did not come by unless asked. A screen on the window would have been nice. There was a fair bit of noise from the club on Friday night but we managed to get to sleep ok.
Great location - right on the foreshore and handy to shops and services. Beds were comfortable and air-conditioning was effective. Breakfast was provided but was a little perfunctory.
