Location was really good - 15 minutes from the airport, close to a shopping centre, entertainment precincts, the CBD and the esplanade. Staff were informative, friendly and helpful. When we mentioned the hot water wasn't working, they arranged for tradies to come in and fix it, and organised a refund for the inconvenience

-I felt a lack of socializing activites, as much as they were proposed , the employees are not there to promote it or to help newcomers integrate. I even went to trivia night on the monkey central hostel, arrived by myself and the employee there barely acknowledged me (I asked about the game, she said it had changed). In a hostel where people were staying for a long time, if you are not it kind of feels like a high school full of cliques. There was even a german girl who came to (very rudely) fight with me because I accidentally thought her food was part of the hostel bbq (I didn’t eat anything, just VERY accidentally added it to my plate, and this other huge guy who was her friend removed it from my plate without saying a word). Not the hostel’s fault, but something that could have been solved had they explained and promoted socialization - Rooms were quite small - beds could have a curtain - airco was quite strong (yes you can ask reception to change it, but in a room with another 7 people, you can’t really ask everyone)

-Beds were very comfortable - the girls in the travel desk were lovely -bathrooms were clean, as were the rooms - pool is ok

The only common area is the courtyard, that is also the dinning room and co-work. The TV room is pretty small and the fridges are far away from the kitchen.

It's a pretty quiet hostel, the vibes are good and almost everyone is working or looking for 88 days jobs. There are some activities during the week, and the pool is also nice.

- Kitchen only has 2 stove tops for everyone to cook on so cooking here is pretty chaotic and annoying - Cups, bowls, and plates are all flimsy plastic. and you have to ask the front desk for them. I hate using anything plastic to cook with or eat off of but thats all they have here. All plastic cutting boards too... so bad for peoples health. - In the rooms there is no place to securely store your valuables. - No hooks to hang anything like towels or jakcets - Not really enough space for peoples bags. The bottom beds are too low to the ground to fit a lot of people's suitcases so they just have them out in the room. Or you squeeze them between the beds - No curtains on the beds, and no place to hang up a towel on the bed for privacy - You have to download an app and sign up with email to check into the hostel and open any doors. Annoying as f***

Bed is comfy, very friendly staff members and overall a nice place for backpackers. Kitchen is big and the facility in general is very welcoming.

The kitchen is scandalous, with only 8 burners for as many people, and two taps. The showers, too, are only functional on the second floor, and even then. Of 8 men's showers, 4 are fine. The showers on the second floor, despite numerous comments, leave something to be desired in my opinion.

The atmosphere in the hostel is superb, thanks to the staff who do their job so well. The doors open with codes, which is very practical. The large pool.

There were a lot of long-termers, so as a solo traveler, I felt it was quite unsociable. It also isn't the best in terms of location, it's a 20min walk from the night markets or restaurants (but I expect that for a quieter experience).

The rooms and shower facilities were really clean and the beds were nice and comfy - I liked the fact that there wasn't a bar, so I slept really well (I had early starts for my excursions)

Most people staying here live here so not good for meeting people if you're only travelling. Beware of the happy travels sales staff, make sure to read the terms and conditions in full as they hide the fact there is a 50% cancellation fee if you book any tours with them

The bed wasn't the most comfortable and I still don't know how I feel about having the key to my room on the phone (maybe I'm old fashioned)!

Free breakfast - great range (pancakes, cereal, juice) Kitchen/cooking area. Common area. Staff were easy to get along with and meeting people from all around the world.
