How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNightcap Ridge is in an outstanding location - so remote, in the middle of Gondwana Rainforest. You can step outside the cottage and hike for hours in the most spectacular forest. The cottage is beautifully styled, super comfortable and really practical. The owners, Nick and Adam, were so friendly, and incredibly helpful.

Verified reviewThe upgrade to Rose Bank Cottage was great. We really appreciated having the fire lit before we arrived. Lovely bathroom.
Rose Bank Cottage - Other than the fire there was no other heating. The bed is old style and sags in the middle. Our original booking was the Studio - garden view. We were so grateful that we were upgraded as we’ve since found out that the studio was not as described. For example ‘the fireplace is the standout feature…’ is actually outside not inside. The ‘private bathroom’ is separate to the studio. You are required to walk outside to access it. Not very convenient in winter or when raining. We would not have booked the studio if we were aware of these details. Clearer, accurate descriptions of the facilities of the studio would be appreciated.

Verified reviewNightcap Ridge is in a beautiful and peaceful setting, with privacy and nature all around. The accommodation is listed as *3 stars* online and upon staying there I agree that this is a fair rating. The exceptional reviews and styled photographs did heighten our expectations however, and we were a bit disappointed with our experience. The Studio / Loggers Cabin has nice interior design elements, but was still very rustic for the price tag. We experienced a few annoyances during the stay, some of which were affected by ongoing supply issues following the ex-tropical cyclone in February, but which nevertheless impacted on our experience. The outdoor bathroom, while appealing in photos, is trying in wet weather. And there was no indoor fireplace anymore, despite this still being listed in the accommodation description. Overall this is a nice and very peaceful place to stay, but it's pricey for what it offers.

Verified reviewThe size of the property, the maps of the walking tracks, the quietness, and the hosts are so flexible and accommodating. We walked to Rocky Creek waterfalls down Blue Fig Rd which was a 7km round trip we also went down to the other end of the Rocky Creek Falls down Rummery Road which was a 3km round trip the waterfalls were beautiful.
The toilet and shower being separate from the loggers cottage it's a bit cold at night and in the morning heading outside to the toilet especially heading into the cooler months (winter), not having block-out curtains on the windows only sheer curtains that you could see through and no curtains in the dining room, not being told we wouldn't have access to the combustion stove as it was broken only gas portable stove and gas heater, the door to the outside to the BBQ area does latch as the locking mechanism is bent and will only close when the door locks at top and bottom of the door secure the door so essentially has to be locked from the inside to keep it closed, there is no screens on the doors to keep flies out. Loggers cabin is abit run down gutters need cleaning, the outdoor bathroom shower was hit and miss couldn't get consistent hot water kept cutting out. We were also supplied with wet firewood which wasn't going to burn luckily we baught some our own.

Verified reviewComing into the cottage on a rainy night to a lovely fire going was so welcoming. Our hostess was friendly and very helpful. The views through the windows were a balm to me, beauty all around. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin, very spacious and comfortable.
The road in was an experience. Which I have been told in in the works to be fixed. Drive with care. The scenery made it worth it though ☺️

Verified reviewThis place is amazing for anyone who wants to get away from reality, quiet and relaxing. All you need to do it bring your own things, and know how to stoke a fire in the cold (possibly bring your own small heater for the rooms if its winter) Otherwise come in, bring a book, some wine and relax
The roads to get there were less than ideal. even in a UTE it was slow going, not knowing how bad it could have been I don't think i would have been able to get there if we took out other car.

Verified reviewIt was quiet, peaceful and refreshing. Tiny little cabin had almost everything we needed. Bed was comfy, bathroom was clean. The owner was also very welcoming and helpful. I was able to use the firewood despite the rain, owner helped us. It’s not very close to cabin, I think for safety reasons.
We took the rough road to the property. It’s actually 20 mins of small and dirt/gravel road, just need to drive slow and it’s fine. But i think I took the other entrance with 40 mins of dirt road. Also, weather was a bit unexpected. Was raining most of our stay but it was okay for a change to stay indoors. Careful with the leeches during wet season.

Verified reviewThe cottage was beautiful and tastefully decorated. I loved the decor. The backdrop of the rainforest is just stunning. The sounds of the forest were soothing and being in a national park is quite a different experience.
My husband and I are always looking for unique and slightly off the beaten path experiences. In my opinion, the host needed to inform us about the specific driving terrain. This was not an easy drive and it was stressful due to a number of factors - such as we had a small rental car (I would have felt far more confident in a larger vehicle), some parts of the road had significant potholes, and near the end of this 45 min drive from Bangalow was a single track road. The area also received significant rainfall which also complicated the drive. Consider yourself warned :) as to the other reviewers, this property was a little too much off the beaten track for us.
Thanks Morrie.

Verified reviewExcellent stay. The house was beautifully presented with comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen. Everything was provided that was needed for a relaxing stay. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed the indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pit. The natural surroundings provided peaceful walks in the forest and a restful time. Highly recommended.
Nothing. Be aware of leeches!

Verified reviewThe host lives on the property and was able to get us settled in nicely. The view, the forest, the wildlife, all were stunning. Such a cozy little mountain forest getaway. Roads leading to the property weren't good due to poor weather which made for some difficulty getting to the property in a small car.
Thanks so much Jesse. You were perfect guests.

Verified reviewPhenomenal property on the edge of the national park. The cottage was honestly one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Everything in the cottage seemed considered and designed to evoke peace and presence. From something as simple as the lack of visible powerpoints, to the beautiful retro radio and lounge setting to the deeply peaceful clawfoot bath and fireplace. We arrived, went back in time for a few days to when life felt simpler and left feeling truly content - something rare in this age. Additionally, Sara the host was incredibly thoughtful and accomodating. Magical place, thanks for having us, we will be back and will tell all our friends x
