Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaPlan your Cape Tribulation visit well. Roads are treacherous, safe swimming and camping locations limited. Facilities away from accommodation nonexistent including mobile coverage. It is a wilderness area.
The hosts were very accommodating. This is a location to rest and reflect or equally base your Cape Trib adventure in modern and eco-friendly digs. Full size fridge, cooking on BBQ and microwave. Good WiFi and mobile reception on site

AustraliaAmazing setting beneath Mt Sorrow. Beautifully landscaped on edge of the rainforest. Quiet, blissful and luxurious. The hosts were lovely, very helpful and had thought of everything their guests could possibly need. The kitchen was very well stocked and equipped. The huge daybed on the deck was a special treat.

AustraliaMIST is beautifully set in the heart of the rainforest, offering a peaceful escape surrounded by lush palms and natural beauty. The cabins, while not of the highest build quality, are comfortable and provide a great view of the surrounding rainforest. During our stay, we did experience some disappointment as the air conditioning in our cabin wasn’t working, and there didn’t seem to be a clear solution at the time. Lady Lilin, the host, was warm and welcoming at first, but her presence occasionally felt a little too involved, which slightly impacted the sense of privacy we were hoping for. Overall, our stay was enjoyable, and we’ve always loved coming to Cape Tribulation over the years. This was our first time at MIST, and while it’s a good place to stay, we feel there’s room for improvement - especially considering the rates charged. With a few refinements, it could truly shine.

SingaporeWe wish we could stay longer.
We enjoyed our stay at the Mist at Cape Tribulation tremendously. The eco-luxe pavilion we stayed in was well-designed, clean and close to the amenities such as restaurants, Madja, Kulki boardwalks, and Thornton’s Beach lookout. In the evening, we also enjoyed sitting on the day-bed at the verandah, observing the sights and sounds of the floral and fauna of the Daintree Rainforest. Lilian and Kim were excellent hosts — hospitable, warm and friendly.

AustraliaA beautiful, well appointed, clean and comfortable self contained place to stay in the Daintree Rainforest. From the privacy of our deck on the end pavilion where we stayed, we had wonderful views of palms, rainforest and Mount Sorrow. We had everything we needed and loved our two nights here and would recommend staying at Mist.

United KingdomBeautiful setting and excellent accommodation. Being raised slightly on a hillside means it is nice and light rather than being buried in the forest. We visited other places we were considering staying and we were so pleased we stayed here. Easy access to everywhere on the Cape. Very good value when compared to some other properties. Lillian is an excellent host.

United StatesI loved how helpful the hosts were to help find food for self catering or for dining experience. She was very insightful and was attentive. Very thoughtful and sent a welcoming message that completely helped this trip. I was pleasantly surprised at how accommodating (coffee and tea and pillow options) . It was very aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. I really enjoyed this location. A/C and fans worked like a charm and it was perfectly cool and we went at very high temps.

AustraliaNot many places to hang anything. Nowhere to hang wet clothes to dry. Need hooks inside and some sort of clothes rack or hooks outside for items to dry. No hairdryer. No gas in BBQ but this was quickly rectified with sincere apologies.
Location. Comfortable bed. Great deck area. Kitchen facilities.

United KingdomThis is quite remote and its not possible to leave without driving. For us, this was perfect for a 2 night stay but if you are looking for something lively, this isn't going to be for you.
We loved our stay here in October 2024! It was the perfect balance of comfort and being off grid. The owner was very friendly and had thought of everything you might need for a self catering stay. We particularly loved the patio with our own BBQ and chill out zone. Owner also very helpful if you need recommendations for local attractions.
