How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Room is quite small, just tricky to manage large suitcases.
The location is perfect, only 2 roads to cross to get to steps down to darling Harbour and the vast array of restaurants and wharf. After traveling around Europe for a month this was our first hotel stay back down under. The gentleman working at the check in on our arrival was outstandingly helpful, realising we were tired and jet lagged from our London flight, he managed to get us checked in much earlier than we expected, thankyou! We hadn't opted in for breakfast, however we realised on day 2 that the cafe/bar offered exactly what we wanted and at a fair price. The ladies in the cafe were as lovely as the food and coffee. Catch the airport train to Wynyard and walk through westpac way tunnel, over bridge and left to hotel - easy even with cases as there are lifts. We will definitely stay again if we return to Sydney.

There wasn't much that I didn't like. The aircon made a slight humming noise but not a serious issue and the room was quiet enough.
The room was on the small size but it was adequate for purpose. The bed was comfortable and pillows were good. The location was perfect for me as it was central to the expo, start line and finish line of Sydney Marathon and was close to public transport. The exceptional part of the stay was definitely the staff, for me. From the first phone call that I made to using the gym showers and check out, every single member of staff went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and welcome. They were all exceptionally friendly and are a credit to the hotel.

All good.
Great location, especially as we wanted to do activities located around Barangaroo and the Sydney Theatre Co wharf area. Room was modern, adequate size (knowing it was an Ibis hotel that we've used in other places). The breakfast included was any 3 items from their cafe menu and this was great. Room was very quiet (right next to major road so well insulated) and nice and dark in the morning. Walking distance to Wynyard station which was great for railway access to and from the airport.

Closet could be larger! And my window looked right into an office building. I kept forgetting to close the blinds. A tint on the window or something on the lower half would be nice for privacy

The room we were in was very close to a major road so was a little noisy in the early hours of the morning.
The staff were fantastic, location was exceptional, loved the cafe, the food and staff were excellent. We were able to get an early checkin which was really helpful.

They need to check coffee supplier as mug was cracked and leaked coffee when hot coffee made also didn’t refill tea or coffee for next day.
When we first arrived given a room that wasn’t made up so was given another room (superior room). Room sizes are small but ok for couple of nights.
