Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaEverything was great. Sue is very helpful if you have any questions.
Stunning setting, particularly in the morning with the sun streaming in and views of the beach. We were very impressed with the thought that has been put into supplying guests with everything they could need. The little extras were fantastic: from salt & pepper, oil, herbs, Vegemite, coffee pods AND nescafe, a variety of tea. Even a little butter & milk to start you off. Well stocked kitchen; excellent communication with Sue (the host). Comfy beds, good shower & toiletry supplies.

AustraliaIncredible view, watching sunset over a glass of wine was amazing. Lovely clean home. Good facilities. I know it is only a small thing, but usually blunt knives are a pet peave. Here, however, they were razor sharp and it was a pleasure to prepare a little food! There are a stack of lovely places to visit nearby including the lavender farm, Springs Rd winery, eucalyptus distillery etc, and it is not far from Kingscote which has shops etc.

AustraliaWould have liked a king bed in at least 1 room. Unfortunately the internet went down during our stay and as 2 of our family had no mobile reception they were using the WiFi this was an issue.
The view overlooking Emu Bay was beautiful. Even saw a pod of dolphins. An echidna was in the back garden. Home was well stocked and appreciated the glad wrap etc making self catering easy.

United StatesCan’t think of anything.
Sue was communicative about the location and the directions to get the key for the house. The house has an incredible view of the bay. It’s located in a nice neighborhood with tons of wildlife. We saw at least five koalas swaying in the trees nearby. And one night we saw a ton of kangaroos. Echidnas and gorgeous birds can be seen too. The property has a nice and easy bbq to use. And we were able to do a load of laundry and air dried our clothes. I even took a picture of the clothes drying on the line with the bay in the background because it was such a beautiful setting. There’s a dryer too in case line drying isn’t realistic. The kitchen is huge and has all the pots and pans and lots of supplies. We had a great time!

This is an amazing property. The views of the bay from the balcony are awesome. Exceptionally clean and superbly furnished. Everything you could want is provided. Checking in and out was seamless. Sue, the owner is lovely and answered all our queries within minutes. This is a superb place to stay and we would highly recommend it for a brilliant holiday on Kangaroo Island.

AustraliaIncluded in what we did like.
Two mirror-image townhouses, set in an elevated location on the western side of Emu Bay, amongst many other houses. Modern, clean, spacious and well equipped (including dishwasher and coffee machine); each has 3 bedrooms - the master bedroom with an en-suite and a second bathroom (bath and shower), with separate toilet, service the other 2 bedrooms (one has a double bed, the other a pair of singles). Each house has its own driveway and off-street covered parking. Undoubtedly the feature of these homes is the easterly view across Emu Bay - from the kitchen, living room, dining room and spacious balcony. Steps in the balcony lead to a lower level with a well equipped laundry and a BBQ. Downstairs is not suited to a table and chairs so cooking on the BBQ needs to be bought up the stairs, where a comfortable outdoor setting (table with four chairs) is the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast lunch or dinner. The houses face east so you may get a special sunrise and possibly a nice reflected sunset across the large bay with its long white sandy beach (upon which you can drive, if you want to). Its a 10 minute walk to the beach. Emu Bay is quite densely settled (a lot of houses) but has no cafes, supermarkets or convenience stores. You are less than 20 minutes (by car) from Kingscote which has everything you may want to buy and enjoy at your accommodation. The front (main) bedroom faces west and the road; it can get quite warm. It has an effective ceiling fan but no air conditioner (neither do either of the other bedrooms but they face east and are comfortable with the windows open). The two smaller bedrooms are both close to the neighbours house, (they have a nice garden) - the view from the main living area is the focus point of both houses, and is sensational. The balcony is divided by a solid brick wall and cannot become one balcony, should you plan to rent both houses for your group. The houses both rely on stored rainwater, so water is a precious resource.

Australia- There are no shops or anything in Emu bay. You have to take you care if you want to go to a cafe, restaurant, or groceries. It forces you to plan ahead if you want to have something to eat - The rooms are immense, but the beds were small and not great at all. That space would really deserve good quality king size beds! - The centralized light system feels clunky and unnecessary.
- The whole place is very spacious, big bedrooms, big balcony, and plenty of space! - The view on emu beach is pretty great, especially when you sit down at the outdoor table for a drink - Easy to pick-up the keys and access the premises without having to meet anyone - The place was very quiet, there was basically nobody to disturb your sleep - You can park you car in a protected car port
