How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewIt was abit stressful trying to park for the first time and figuring out the right entrance into the carpark at the apartment as there are 3, then trying to find the entry door to the correct carpark. Although images sent were good, our internet was not available right away to be able to view them. If at all possible it would be good to make people aware prior that it can be confusing finding the carpark so printing the instructions would be useful.

Only thing I could fault is I couldn’t lock the balcony door in the lounge room.

Verified reviewThe location was absolutely amazing. The facilities were also really comfortable. The gallery and view of the ocean was spectacular. I really loved the facilities of washer and dryer, being a mother I loved laundry and I also washed the towels provided by the property.
The check in time was at 2pm local time, the manager called me and met up to provide the keys. When we met she told me that the property is not ready yet and it will take another 1.20 hours to finish cleaning. We were made to wait for 1.20 hours in the QLD 35 degrees scorching heat. My children were tired and wanted to relax. We went to a close by restaurant and waited there until we received the call stating that the room is ready. There was another incident too. I saw a big cockroach in the bathroom near the sink. This was reported to the property manager. I also took the picture as an evidence.

It is understood through my enquires that several of the cleaners we engage with were not available on that day and had to source somebody externally. Our priority is too always provide a clean environment for our guests prior to checkin. As for identifying one cockroach I have to take this up with the pest control company because we only just had the apartment treated literally a few weeks back. I will follow this up. Lack of kitchen condiments, and no normal tv
We only supply limited condiments as per every hotel. Also, Please don’t forget that this is a private apartment not a hotel:) with the tv, we have a smart tv which has the ordinary channels too. Overall. Great guest! Recommend Liam to all hosts:)

Verified reviewThe property was nice but didn’t have a spa in the room which we did want when booking but it’s mislabelled and it’s a shared communal spa.
The owner, person we dealt with wasn’t very nice. She was hard to talk too and kept arguing with me because we couldn’t find how to get to the room. Poor service.

Deb is not the owner she’s the manager and she is an extremely nice person and our previous reviews say so, maybe this was just a misscommunication. I am the apartment owner, when you got lost in the parking, I tried calling you myself but you never picked up, nor returned my call. My understanding was that you did not follow the arrival instructions which was automatically sent upon making the booking and 1 day before arrival. Not sure what cleanliness, value and facilities got to do with you not being happy with the manager’s service. The apartment was super clean when you arrived, what you paid for your stay was 30% less than most apartments in surfers as a promotion was in place and in terms facilities, Chevron Renaissance is known to have the most facilities in surfers paradise. Nevertheless, your review is very much appreciated and it helps us improve our service. Thanks for being our guest:)
