Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

My wife and I stayed in a beautiful room in a fantastic location below the fortress, close to the cathedral, and in the heart of the pedestrian-only old town (which was especially good since I ran the Mozart 50K race that ended nearby). The building is about 800 years old and is gorgeous, including an entire floor with a giant living and dining room and kitchen for the guests. We ate dinner there and I had breakfast the morning of the race and rarely saw other guests, as there are only a few rooms, so you will almost have the entire place to yourself. It also has a courtyard where you can sit. And it was ethereal to hear the cathedral's choir from our room. The staff, including the charming manager, were wonderful. He helped us carry our luggage up a hill (do not let your Uber or cab driver drop you off further away because they do not have the code to get through the gates) and even went to a store to get us non-dairy milk.

United KingdomI only wish we stayed longer. We will have to return!
We had an exceptional stay at Townhouse Weisses Kreuz. The property is absolutely beautiful, it has been very cleverly designed to make the most of the stunning period features without compromising on any of the modern facilities you expect from a high-end hotel. The location is perfect, right in the centre of the Old Town and walking distance to everything we wanted to see. The staff were so helpful, they made us feel incredibly welcome, offered lots of good advice and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a truly fabulous stay and I would throughly recommend it.

If you love interiors you will love this hotel. Claudia was brilliant before we arrived with instructions etc and greeted us on arrival which was really nice! The hotel has been curated with so many thoughtful and stylish pieces even down to the little leather pieces around well used areas of the wall tacked in beautifully with brass tacks (he have stolen that idea for our cottage back home!) Water in the room and wifi available there is a lounge downstairs available with coffee and snacks etc if you wish. The bed was SUPER comfy, luxurious quality linens and nice and quiet. LOVE LOVE LOVE ❤️

United StatesIt was one of the most unique places I have stayed. Such an awesome hostoric building and so clean. The proprietor was very kind and told us about a restaurant that we absolutely loved. We sat by the fireplace upstairs and drank wine from their bar. Visited the fortress and the Christmas Market which was also beautiful. A wonderful experience. Can’t imagine a nicer place to stay in the historic area. Thank you for everything!

United KingdomNothing to dislike
This hotel is pure quality, everything is sumptuous and so much better than good. Location is central, the owners are genuinely pleasant, interesting and interested eg on the first day we were directed to a real Christmas market 5km south of the city, including the walking route to get there …

AustraliaThere was nothing we didn’t like - everything about our stay was flawless. It exceeded all our expectations!
Staying at Townhouse Weisses Kreuz was truly the highlight of our trip to Salzburg, far exceeding all our expectations in every way. The interiors and rooms were exceptional, with every detail and design thoughtfully considered. From the cozy atmosphere to the elegant furnishings, it felt less like staying in a hotel and more like being welcomed into an extraordinary home. It’s unlike any accommodation we’ve experienced before! A special thanks to Claudia and Jörg, who were such wonderful hosts - always available and eager to ensure our stay was seamless and memorable. Their warm hospitality made all the difference. The location couldn’t have been better, right in the heart of Salzburg’s Old Town. It was a short walk to the Christmas markets, Salzburg Cathedral, and Getreidegasse, making it a perfect base for exploring the city. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

I don’t even know where to begin! Whoever designed this place, thought of EVERYTHING. Joerg, the manager was not only available anytime from anywhere but exceeded any expectation of care. The location is beyond exceptional. The bed was more comfortable and restoring than my own. That’s a big deal while traveling!

United StatesThis is one of the most amazing places we have stayed in. Perfect location in the old city but quiet enough away from the crowds. Rooms are beautifully decorated, combining the Salzburg tradition with a modern flare. The late night honor system drinks in the breathtaking living room are a totally unexpected plus. And of course, there is Jorg.... a fantastic host that does not miss any detail. We would absolutely recommend it as the place TO stay in Salzburg.

United StatesI enjoyed everything about it.
It is a perfectly appointed home in the middle of one of the most historic places of the world. We really felt like we were locals in Salzburg. Claudia is the perfect person to have as a host, full of knowledge, tips, charm and class She made reservations for us and helped us plan our day. Make no mistake however, this is not a B&B but a beautiful hotel that fells like a home. The building dates from the 13th century and is stunningly restored and furnished. The location is quite unbelievable as it sits at the base of the of old fort. We were lucky to find this place.

United StatesThe hosts are very friendly and helpful. In addition to great baristas, they gave us perfect tips for touring the city, where to eat, best photo locations, etc. They never missed an opportunity to serve us and make us feel like valued guests. We chose the Townhouse Weisses Kreuz because of its location and because the photos really showcase the stylish presentation of this hotel, but seeing it and experiencing it in person is super impressive. You're staying in art. I could not be more happy with the choice we made to stay at the Townhouse Weisses Kreuz.

United KingdomIf I could find any single one thing, which isn’t even a problem (in fact it would probably ruin the look and feel of the room putting one in) it would have been helpful to have a fridge in the room. However there is a fridge in the lounge / kitchen area where there is also an honesty bar area so like I said, not really a problem.
Everything! Every detail in this property is spectacular even down to the light switches. The hosts are beyond helpful and thoughtful. This hotel is so good that we returned here a spontaneous second time during our trip to Austria and spent an additional two nights here after a first night at the beginning of our trip. If you book this hotel, I guarantee you will not be disappointed, you will continue to find things you love. The beds are the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever slept in too. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It really made our trip to Austria special.
