How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe've just come back from our journey. My stay was fantastic! The quality of the hotel and the room was excellent, and everything was spotlessly clean. I especially enjoyed the delicious breakfasts, and the staff was always friendly and helpful. The sauna and pool were wonderful. Overall, it was a great experience, and the town itself is lovely with incredible views.
The only thing missing was a small kettle in the room for evening tea.

Verified reviewVery nice interior, spacious rooms, bar area was nice, and the breakfast was good. It was nice that you made an effort for the Ironman, and the free drinks and snacks were appreciated. It was also very helpful to be able to put our bikes in our rooms / balconies.
1. Temperature controls for sink and shower were very bad. It was impossible to get cold water from the tap, and the shower temperature was very unreliable. 2. Despite saying they would reserve a table for us for 6 for breakfast, there was never one reserved for us. We were sat in a completely separate part of the restaurant for one day, with no one else. We were also made to feel like we were an inconvenience, and put a long way away from the buffet, despite the restaurant being half empty. 3. The lack of an iron and ironing board was very poor. That is a fairly standard requirement. 4. Reception staff were polite and friendly enough, but some of the other staff were quite rude and abrupt.

Verified reviewIncredible staff and very service oriented. We were welcomed with a welcome drink even though we were severel hours early. Very comfortable rooms and the spa area was amazing. It was also the best hotel breakfast we’ve ever had.
A slight odor of old cigarette smoke in the room, but not that bad.

The biggest problem: there is no air conditioning in the rooms. We stayed in a freshly renovated room and were shocked to find out that the only ventilation was in the bathroom. The room was very hot and humid, even though the weather outside wasn’t particularly warm. This made the stay quite uncomfortable. The breakfast was good, but the snack selection was very disappointing. They served sushi with rice that was not fully cooked — some grains were so hard that I almost broke a tooth. It was definitely not sushi rice, and overall the taste was awful, probably the worst sushi I’ve ever had. Another issue: luggage service. Nobody offered to help us with our suitcases, and there is no luggage room available after checkout. The staff kindly let us leave our bags under a staircase, but it was completely unattended — meaning anyone could have taken them. Also, while I don’t mind paying a pet fee, I was surprised that the hotel doesn’t provide even basic amenities for dogs (such as a bowl or blanket), which most pet-friendly hotels usually do.

Of course, we also offer luggage service, we just kindly ask our guests to let us know (by a short call to reception) so that we can come immediately to pick up the bags. • Regarding pets: the pet fee is only a cleaning surcharge for the additional effort after departure. It is not common in European hotels to provide items such as bowls or blankets, which are usually brought along by the pet owners themselves. • As for air conditioning, we would like to mention that, similar to most alpine hotels in our region, our house does not advertise AC. The rooms are designed for natural ventilation, which is usually sufficient in Zell am See’s mountain climate. No coffee Maker No AC No Iron device The bathroom had separate hot and cold faucets at the sink making it hard to get a comfortable temperature. This became especially inconvenient when washing baby items and cleaning frequently during the day. Price is kind expensive for view room

Verified reviewWe returned to the Tirolerhof thirty years after coming here for our honeymoon and were delighted to be given such a warm welcome. We began to relax immediately. Our room was lovely and very comfortable. After a walk in the mountains we enjoyed a swim in the hotel and and the hotel bar was very inviting. Breakfast was fab. I only wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel staff were very professional. Our thanks to the whole team.

Not cleaned every day and one of the receptionist is not helpful and even not keen to answer my requests , no air conditioner and when I open the window there will be a lot of insects and spiders will come inside the room and the fan will let me feel thirsty, the breakfast menu is limited , no tissue inside the room
