How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe hotel is located in the immediate vicinity of two ski lifts. The welcome was very warm - the entire staff is generally very friendly and helpful. On departure, I even received an ice pack for my injured hand. The pool is big enough to swim in and the wellness area is very pleasant. The bar area is spacious and tastefully decorated. At breakfast there is a buffet and also a menu from which you can choose egg dishes, for example. The evening menu offers a choice of 3 main courses. The minibar in the room (mineral water, soft drinks) and coffee are included in the room rate.
After a stay at A-Rosa Kitzbühl several years ago, expectations were too high. The food couldn't keep up. But the bed/room was particularly bad! The first night was a horror, as we (friends and not a couple) didn't get the twin room we had asked for, nor a normal double bed (ours was max. 1,60 m). The next day we complained to the manager, who first showed us a junior suite for which we would have had to pay an extra EUR 250 per night (!) and then one for EUR 50. We then had the sofa prepared in our very small room and solved the problem that way. The manager said that we shouldn't have booked via booking.com. After our second night we were told by a restaurant employee that there were only 13 guests in the house, and on our last night there were only 5. It is very disappointing that we were not offered a room of the same category with a larger bed. We are convinced that the room 445, measuring approx. 3 x 9 metres (a large part of it is actually unusable due to the sloping roof), is the worst room in the entire hotel and an extremely narrow passageway (in the dark to the toilet) is not only unpleasant but also dangerous and in no way in keeping with the hotel's categorisation. Verified reviewThe staff were lovely. Very friendly and helpful. The spa was excellent. The food was delicious. We really enjoyed the variety that went into the evening dinners (an Austrian themed night with live music, a fondue night etc).
We found the bed a little uncomfortable. Our shower was unusable without flooding the bathroom floor due where it was mounted in the bath. This didn’t really matter to us, as we just ran baths or used the spa instead.

Verified reviewThe location of the hotel was amazing. It was a short walk to all the surface lifts in Zurs. We had a great view from our room. The spa, the breakfast and the staff were outstanding. The breakfast provided a great variety to start our mornign off correctly.
The shower/bath was too small for us to use. When used it turned the entire bathroom into a wet room.

The service was poor. Our bathroom had no shampoo or soap. Our room was not cleaned. The maid yelled at us when we complained. We ordered a bottle of wine that they tried to charge more than twice for. Be careful for bait and switch.

Verified reviewThis is a truly exceptional hotel with cossets its guests like family. The hotel offers wonderful service and successfully blends a dignified old-world sense of class with modern innovation and quirky characterful charm. The owner and her team run a very well-tuned operation, are truly charming and always go a little above and beyond what is required. The food, be it the wonderful breakfast buffet or set dinner menu is fabulous and guests are made to feel both at home and very special. As I had a birthday at the hotel, they also surprised me with a little, elegant celebration. The spa area is lovely and treatments exceptionally good. Plus we enjoyed a couple of days with their ski instructor, Roman, in a group with other hotel guests. We had great fun and learnt a lot.
We enjoyed every moment we spent at Thurner's Alpenhof and plan to return as soon as we can.
