How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewClose to the train station , city center and daily room cleaning service. The host appeared helpful.
Wifi service is no better than none, facilities is very basic. No electric kettle, coffee brewer, coffee, tea or water provided. No lift. Room was assigned on level 2, 36 stairs . It was not easily for seniors.

Verified reviewPossibility of bike storage, parking right in front of pension, very clean environment, location right in the center of city, yet very calm place (we had room leading to calm back street but some rooms are leading to crowded street full of bars and restaurants, those maybe could be noisy at night?)
Too soft bed, missing at least small kitchen to make breakfast or coffee, no fridge

Verified reviewLocation – superb. It's 500 metres from the railway station and just 100 metres from the lake. The hotel is right in the middle of town, surrounded by cafes, restaurants, ice-cream shops and souvenir stores. I believe we had the biggest room in the hotel. It was clean, with decent storage space, and tastefully decorated. I could see a slice of the lake from the window. But what we liked most was the welcoming, helpful attitude of the owner. From the moment we booked until we checked out, he was attentive and accommodating to every need. In today's age of fully contactless hotels, he is a wonderful reminder of how nice it is to have direct access to the hotel owner or someone who manages the property.
As far as the Pension is concerned, we were happy with everything. Perhaps just two minor issues—mentioned only for the sake of completeness—but nothing significant. A mirror in the room and a charging point on both sides of the bed would have been convenient. There is a charging point on one side of the bed, but not the other. Still, there are other charging points in the room, so it wasn’t a major problem. However, a more significant issue was the behavior of the staff at the café where hotel guests can have breakfast. The lady running the café was extremely rude, which is completely unexpected in the hospitality industry. In all my years of travel, I haven’t encountered anyone as unprofessional and discourteous as her. It’s an independent café that rents a room in the hotel, so guests have the option to have breakfast there. I would strongly recommend NOT taking breakfast at this café, even if it seems cheaper (Euro 8). There is also very little variety—just a croissant, a slice of bread, butter, jam, cheese, ham, juice, and coffee. While it is filling, you have to eat the same breakfast every day. There are plenty of other places nearby where you can have breakfast if you don’t mind spending a little more

Verified reviewThe entrance was a bit hard to find at first, but location was great and super central right next to one of the main pedestrian streets. The room was clean & comfortable and the owner & staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast at the nearby cafe was maybe a bit on the light side, but certainly adequate and quite pleasant.
Unfortunately, the WiFi was very poor in my room and there seemed to be a problem with the access point / router. When I spoke to the owner about it, he said that he was going to upgrade the network to be mesh based, which will likely make it a lot better.

Verified reviewThe Pension Buchner exeded my expectations. I am very happy that I ended up booking this particular place. The location was great, near the lake, on the main street. The staff was friendly, and the owner was always ready to help. It was really the best location. I also liked it, that public areas and rooms had its own charm: lots of wooden furniture and hardwood floor. For me it was important that I had a shower and a sink in the room and using a bathroom on the floor turned out not to be an issue at all, it was always clean, and it was never a line or even occupied by someone.

Verified reviewPension was right in centre of Zell, a perfect location. Nice village feel to Zell. Narrow streets lent themselves to a cost atmosphere. Good selection of bars and restaurants.

Verified reviewThe property was kept very clean, room cleaned every day. Very good location, right next to all the pubs and restaurants. Five minutes walk to the City Xpress gondola. Breakfast next door was quite good, bread, butter, cheese, ham, tomato, jam, coffee or tea, juice, and water. Other things could be ordered at cost. You could just have cheese if vegetarian. Boot room for ski boots in basement, and locked room for ski storage at back of property. Staff really friendly.
Quite loud on nighttime because of central location, but if window kept closed all was fine.

Verified reviewWe came for seven nights, the apartment was lovely! Everything was very pleasant and clean and the windows sealed most of the noise from outside. Andreas helped us with everything we needed, explained about the site and answered all of our questions patiently. The location is very central and close to all the bars and the restaurants and also to the ski bus and the cityexpress lift. Thank you Andreas! We will definitely come again.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was at the café next door. Friendly staff and good coffee, however it was the same every morning, a variation of the breakfast had been nice.
No toilet at the room, but it worked fine anyway for us.

Verified reviewOwner of the pension was very helpful. Pension itself is a bit old, but everything was clean and tidy. Ski lift is within walking distance.
Breakfast was super minimalistic - 5mm thick slice of bread, few slices of cheese and ham. We had windows to the pedestrian zone, that was full of screams of drunks until morning...
