Best hotel experience I've ever had. The owner was extraordinarily kind. She bakes bread from dough made by a local company, and has a wonderful spread for breakfast. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you would need to enjoy your time in the Alps. I didn't want to leave for the next leg of my trip. Just a truly wonderful experience.

I’ve never been to a nicer hotel, on any continent. I’ve also never had a nicer host who made me feel like I’m a part of her family for the duration of my stay. Breakfasts are fantastic, the rooms are comfortable (there’s the calming sound of a stream running behind the hotel), and the hotel is located in the center of one of the most beautiful towns on Earth. I will return.

The owner was extremely friendly. I came to run a trail race, and the lady kindly explained everything so I could have breakfast earlier. The location is right next to the ski lift, which must be very convenient in winter.

There were a few negatives. Sound insulation from outside is great, but from inside it was really, really, poor. Especially from the next door neighbours bathroom, to such an extent that could tell what sort of business they are doing in the bathroom....You probably get the point, that was a bit too much. And also bathroom looked a bit dated. Also no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms, although there was an option to get hot tea or coffee from the machine downstairs - obviously for an additional price though. Also, bed was rather soft and my back did not like it. These would be main negatives, but for this price you cannot really expect a 5 star hotel. Still regard accommodation and stay as positive and these negatives did not spoil the whole impression of the property.

Great location, close to town centre, close to main bus hub and train station is not that far away. However, it is in quiet location away from all the noise. There is a stream running next to the property, my windows faced it, but windows are double glazed, so absolutely no noise from it. I also received mobility/guest card as part of reservation. Host was very welcoming, I was able to store my luggage before my check in time in advance. Also, buses to Schmittenhöhebahn run right past the property, you only need to walk a couple hundred meters to bus stop, and cityXpress is also hundred or so meters away. Again, great location.

on quieter side of Zell am See but very close to cityxpress cable car station and bus 71 station which going to other 3 cable car stations operating in summer time. Window view of the top of mountain Schimittenhöhe, beautiful sunset view of the mountain. flowers draped over the balcony railing, which is exactly what I dreamed of a Alpine hotel/chalet. The breakfast room is with a lot alpine traditional decorations. Anni, the host is lovely and welcoming.

Coffee should be stronger!

The location of this traditional pension is perfect. It is localized not so far from the city center, but far enough to maintain absolute “soul refreshing” quietness. Actually the only background noise you will hear is a sound of a wild rivulet flows behind the house. And as always it is all about host and here you have host worth 11 stars out of 10. It was great and lovely stay for me and I hope I will came back.

Very basic breakfast: it’s not about quantity but quality of breakfast items. Very weak coffee. From room description, I knew that the room would be small and there would be no fridge or kettle in the room. Now I know I prefer places that have a fridge and kettle. My dear fellow Americans, be warned that my room was on the second floor with no elevator with steep stairs up. Those of you on a larger side or with mobility impairment may have difficulties here. The shower is designed for slim and short people. Also watch out for height clearance when leaving the room. I hit my head few times.

Such a lovely place with good atmosphere! The lady hosting the place is super nice and friendly! Good breakfast. About a 5-minute walk to the town center and 10 minutes to the railway station.

Nothing to dislike.

Anna and her family are very welcoming and made me feel comfortable straight away. My room and bed were excellent and even had a nice balcony. Breakfast again was superb, and Anna made sure I had everything I wanted. There is a nice honesty system in place where you can get beers or soft drinks from the fridge at anytime. Anna was also helpful with her knowledge of the area and places to visit. I travelled by motorcycle and my motorbike was nice and secure parked in their private parking area. The location is also very good and very close to the centre, an easy walk but not so close you hear any noise. I would definitely recommend and stay again. Thank you Anna and family, all the best.

The accommodation was comfortable and overall enjoyable. I would appreciate if there would be an electric kettle in the room. Having a kettle would have been convenient for making tea or coffee.

Wonderful Stay! The hostess was incredibly kind and responsive all the time. The location is close to the city center. The room was clean and the breakfasts were delicious, and I truly appreciated them. Highly recommended!

I honestly believe that this is one of the most amazing places we’ve stayed at, and it took us completely by surprise. Pension Alpenrose is one of the few places where the hosts took care of every little detail, and this is why staying here is such a wonderful experience. The breakfast is very nice, the bathroom very clean, the balcony with a nice view of the mountains, and there is even a small river flowing very close to the property. All these come with the most friendly host we’ve ever stayed at (I mean it), and it’s a 200 m walk to the cityXpress that takes you to the Schmittenhöhe. The place even comes with its own sauna. I mean, if these things haven’t convinced you, I feel like nothing will.
