How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewThe rooms are spacious, and clean. The property is spreading between 2 connected buildings, of 6 floors each. There is no view from the rooms - but it is located directly above Neubaugasse U station - superb location.
The rooms furniture and baths are dated and needs renovation. The variety of the breakfast buffet could improve.

Verified reviewSpacious enough room to accommodate three adults. Air conditioned rooms which was indispensable in the summer heat. Parking garage is right next to the hotel and reasonably priced. Good location, right by a subway/metro station (U3) and in walking distance to the first district.
It is kind of hidden in the back of the Mariahilferstrasse entrance, past shops, with steps up to the reception and also to the room. The better entrance is from Lindenstrasse.

Verified reviewThis is my fourth stay at this hotel, and I choose it mainly for its excellent location on Mariahilfer Strasse and the convenience of having air conditioning during Vienna’s hot summer days. The rooms are spacious, clean, and divided into two areas — a living room and a bedroom — which is especially nice when traveling with family. The location is unbeatable, and the breakfast is rich and delicious. The staff are always very helpful. One change this year is that free parking is no longer available; it now costs €22 per night.

Verified reviewGreat Location - perhaps one of the best place to stay in Vienna. Not more than 20 minutes to the Stephan Dom- the walk could not be more pleasant passing.Very friendly staff. The building is nice and big, it is a bit old, but still well maintained. Perhaps the rooms could be a bit more modern, but they are big and comfortable enough.

We are expressing a strong dissatisfaction with the facility, team and asset during our stay. From the entry of the hotel, our child greeted and got excited to meet the team with friendliness. Absolutely neglected, no greetings and staff at the reciption not welcoming and pretending busy at the counter we were the only family at the desk ( Angelina) came across desinteressted, very rude and not cooperative, room not ready at 1pm as we requested for early check in, after a long night and expected empathy for providing a room ASAP, therefor we requested for a call or text once the room is ready which was not attended till 4pm once we returned. Very disappointed from the lack of personal interest of service to people. Once we arrived back at around 4pm to checkin, we saw her eating at the backoffice she stated "I finished my duty and leave now!" and she left without any interest or concern to get things right. The smell across the hotel is old and Moldy which is in the room too. We got the room which was very bad located as expected on pictures on bcom page view over Maria Hilferstr., shower amenities were all empty!! Mattress are very bad, we requested for mattress add on for our child, which was not attended and even shower amenities was never refiled for the enter stay ( shampoo, shower gel, etc.) The curtains, chairs and general furniture are stained scratched and broken, our child got hurt on the flooring which is broken and wood stands out!! Unbelievable condition room Nr 401. The light bulp next to bed is broken too and never got replaced. We booked for 2 adults plus child and daily only 2 towels were provided instead of 3. The sofa bed must be removed, its painful, the worse quality and not possible to use as a bed for children. We requested on day one to meet the general manager Mr Thomas, to address such challenges and service several time, but was never acknowledged also which shows the level of service and bad communication this hotels...

This is not the standard we strive to uphold and, to be honest, it is also not in line with the regular feedback we receive about the colleague you mentioned. Your experience will be addressed internally to ensure consistency in service. Regarding your arrival, our records show you reached the hotel at 11:30. We sent you an SMS at 14:00 to inform you that your room was ready. As our standard check-in time is 15:00, we unfortunately cannot guarantee earlier access when the hotel is fully booked. With respect to the room view, our hotel does not have any rooms facing the shopping street. If you have a picture indicating otherwise, please feel free to share it with us so we can review this in detail. It may be a mix-up with our second NH hotel in Vienna, which is located directly on Mariahilfer Straße. Our mattresses were renewed just four months ago. I apologize if the bedding for your child was not provided in a timely manner, and I hope our housekeeping colleagues were able to improve this during your stay. Concerning your request to meet me in person, I was informed about your complaint only on the last day of your stay. On Friday I was in the hotel all day, but I did not know your program in Vienna, and on Saturday you departed before I arrived. Naturally, I also needed time to collect all relevant details and check our records before responding. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly. I don't fancy bathtubs in hotel rooms. They are slippery and uncomfortable, this one was no exception. Also the price was not really good, considering all amenities.

Staff "attitude" and courtesy/politeness in communication seems to be a recurring problem at this hotel. My wife had a front office employee hang up the telephone on her when asking her about something related to our room. The state of maintenance in the rooms is deteriorating unfortunately. On most days they will try to not clean the rooms unless you make it a point and insist on it - which is really an unnecessary pressure when you are staying in a HOTEL not an airbnb.
