How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The tap in the kitchen kept giving hot water despite being turned to cold
Staff was extremely responsive over WhatsApp. Location was close to old town and station.

On the day of checkout, a staff turned up to check if we have left just because they were alerted that the door was opened. I just went out to get coffee at 9 am so it was bit odd for them to assume that we have left. Check out time is 11 and we have WhatsApp communication to confirm checkout.
The property was very well located with walking access to the main train station and all attractions in the central city. The access and facilities were excellent and the accommodation was clean and equipped with all the required amenities. Luggage storage facilities were easy to use and very helpful to store luggage before and after checkout.

Bus stop for northbound buses is 2 blocks south of hotel entrance which usually is great but we had heavy luggage this trip
At Mirabell, so nice! And close to many Salzburg attractions. We also liked that room had basic cooking features, which we didn’t use but would be great for a future visit.

I suggest offering a night-light in the bathroom. If someone uses the bathroom at night, he wakes up the other person in the bedroom because the en suite bathroom door is translucent glass.
Comfortable and practical. Someone intelligently combined the best aspects of a good hotel (professional and efficient staff) + vacation apartment (comfortable and spacious apartment suites with modern furnishings) + a hostel (laundry facilities, a guest pantry with basics like fresh towels/ extra toilet paper/ tissues/ tea/ olive oil, salt, and friendly staff). No front desk, but remote assistance is helpful and quick. Location is good: near Mirabell and the train station and all city bus lines.

Really close to the center. Large underground garage just around the corner (not part of the property). Quiet - no noise from the outside nor the other hotel rooms.

The mattress and pillows are too soft for middle-aged persons. The buttons of bottles (e.g. shampoo, body wash) are not easy to press.
The whole property is new and comfortable. The customer service is pretty good, with prompt e-mail response to our queries. Plus, the location is very convenient for transportation and supermarket.

- Maybe added a few more coffee pods And tea bags to the kitchen area - One bedroom apartment was very expensive- maybe because we were visiting at the time of the Salzburg Festival- so most accommodation seemed overpriced
- Location right next to Schloss Mirabelle but a 10 mins walk from main train station - Quiet neighbourhood but within 5-10 mins walk you reach all the restaurants and bars - Modern apartment with new fittings - Air-conditioning was a big plus as Salzburg was hot - Laundry area was fantastic- free use of washing machines and dryers

The access code was a bit tricky to start with but there is another entrance. Maintenance sorted issue out immediately.
This was a modern, clean apartment in perfect condition. Two entrances. So close to the old town - a very pleasant 15/20 min walk although easily took longer as there as so many distractions on the way. The Mirabell Palace (excellent Mozart concert ) gardens and gnome garden (great for a picnic) less than 5 mins. Meeting points for tours such as Eagle’s Nest & Berchestgarden and The Salt Mines about 7mins. Apartment impeccable and we needed the small sofa bed. This felt private enough tucked out of sight. Hosts on call 24/7 if needed. Very quick response to messages. A skybar opposite was great for a night cap (although quite expensive). Close enough to walk to the station - 10/15 mins.

The only issue was minor - the lack of coat hangers in the wardrobes
