Reviews of Landgasthof Astner 3 stars

Me and my family booked two bedrooms. Both were nice and clean. The beds were comfortable with cotton linens to allow for a better sleep. The parking is right beside the hotel entrance making it easy to bring in the luggages, and since it's in such isolated village I felt safe leaving some belongings in the trunk of the car. The sorroudings are really quite and with easy access to the nearby forests and mountain: after a long trip we could enjoy walking through the trees. The breakfast was essential but offering everything needed for a good start of a day! All in all, I'm very satisfied by the choice and surprised about the existing rating that is far too low compared to what this hotel offers.

The only improvement I can recommend is for the hosts at the reception to be more friendly. Otherwise, all was good!

Breakfast only starts at 8, no possibility to take it earlier, if you want to go ski early in the morning and reach the first lift in Kaltenbach (7.30) you would need to leave at 7 from the place at 7. -> maybe give the guests a possibility to collect a small lunch package in the evening with a few buns+jam/spreads/coldcuts instead of taking breakfast in the morning

For the money I paid, I was very satisfied with the accommodation and the services offered. It is true that they do not have the most modern finishes and the breakfast is not very varied, but considering the price, it exceeded my expectations. I needed accommodation for one night because I was in transit and it was exactly what I needed. 15 minutes away we went to the Maurach ski resort with beautiful landscapes

The staff was nice.

When we entered the room, we thought that the toilette was not cleaned properly. But that was not the source of the smell. The bedding. It smelled like old urine. It was so unbearable that we brought up a blanket from our car and stuffed the bad smelling bedding into the closet. There are really no words for that. The furniture was in a very bad condition. Everything that was screwed to the wall was moving, falling off. The balcony is shared with the neighbouring rooms, so you cannot leave the windows open. We left before the breakfast,so I cannot say anything about it.

Staff was friendly. They had a restaurant/bar to hangout in the evening.

Room wasn't clean, bed frame was in a very bad shape, matresse was super old, bed sheets seemed to be washed but didn't smell good. The balcony was shared with other rooms. We would have loved to open a window because it was hot, but our neighbours regularly smoked outside. Shower/bathroom smelled very bad. No kettle or fridge on the room.

Certainly much cheaper than other similar places in Austria, a lot of parking, good and varied breakfast

Hotel is close to Autobahn. Price is reasonable for a 1-night stay. Showers are hot and internet works well. We missed the check in window due to traffic, and the staff waited up for us until we arrived, just after 8:30. There are many places to easily walk around in the forest/hills nearby if you want to stretch your legs before getting on the road.

Beds were not very comfortable and bedding was very old. Breakfast was the standard of a school trip rather than a hotel with weak coffee and very basic fare.

Fine room in a fine gasthof with good food, both dinner and breakfast, and all excellent value for money
