How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Having to leave
Very nice, great value hotel in a very, lovely, village like location at Gilgen, next to Lake Wolfgansee. Our host Barbara was so friendly and willing to make our stay very comfortable with great advice about the area. Hotel was very clean, fresh breakfast for made whilst you sat in the restaurant. Rooms were a good size and car parking in front of the hotel. Short walk to the lake for boat and funicular train ride to Schafberg and beautiful views. Great location to visit Hallstatt and Dachstein Glacier. Some very nice restaurants nearby. Really enjoyed our stay.

We did have to request some extra cleaning on arrival which was dealt with very promptly.
Lovely setting in the village and the warmest of welcomes from Barbara. This is a very traditional property built in the 1400s which was warm and comfortable. There is a surprisingly modern bathroom and a good kitchen, otherwise the property reflects it's origins. We enjoyed being in a different type of property to ones we normally stay in, albeit parts of it are a little quirky!

It was rainy.
The hotel operator, Barbara, is super friendly and welcoming. In addition to the most important factors for me: comfy bed, quiet, with tea kettle and refigerator.

Location, cleanliness, the host is very kind and amazingly friendly!!! She made sure that we had everything that we needed and made local inquiries when we had a question about the area. We would love to stay here in the future.

Nothing! Everything was perfect!
Haus Mayerhofer is a lovely and cosy place! We spend Christmas there and had the best time! Beds are really comfortable! And it has a big living room and kitchen space. The apartment was perfectly heated for the snow! Although the bathroom is en suite with the one room, it wasn't a problem for us as 'n family. Breakfast is available on request. Everything is closed in St. Gilgen on Christmas Eve and Christmas day, but we made a delicious meal in our apartment. There is Spar supermarket close by to buy all you need. The people are very friendly and St. Gilgen is a beautiful town! It is close to the bus stop which connects you to anywhere!

Barbara is a wonderful host, warm, welcoming and very helpful. The location is fantastic. The apartment is very spacious, spotless clean and beautifully decorated. The shower is excellent, and the beds are extremely comfortable!

The bath towels could be softer. It’s not a deal breaker.
Situated in downtown, it’s walking distance to the lake shore as well as the gondola, both of which we enjoyed. Barbara is cheery and helpful and genuinely wants to make sure everything is good for you.

There’s nothing to complain about.
Though the hotel is not large, it is very exquisite. The room is fully equipped, and everything is unbelievably clean. It’s clear that the hotel owner has put a lot of thought into carefully arranging every detail, with a very elegant taste. The location is excellent as well.

The location of the apartment is in the very center of St. Gilgen. Very clean room.
The kindness of the owner of the apartment, the style of building the apartment is like from a fairy tale.

The property is spacious and very comfortable for a family of for. It is located close to SPAR shop and just a few minutes walk from the beach. The host was very welcoming and friendly, spoiling us with Mozart Kugels 😊

The way to the Toilette/ shower is through the main bedroom and this may not be convenient for 4 people, especially adults

It was quite cramped. Not much effective space where to put things in the kitchen or overall during the usual day. Half of the beds are very very creaky. Parking is possible on site, but you have to be quite skilled. We even got scratched from someone.
Nice host, perfect location. Apartment has 2 bedrooms and kitchen, well equipped.
