How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

I had a wonderful stay, largely thanks to the fantastic host, Georg. He truly went above and beyond to make me feel at home, always available to assist with anything I needed. Verified reviewI love history, so when I travel, I try to stay in places that have a sense of history or quirkiness or are in an awesome location and Gasthof zum Stern met all of those "requirements" and more. From the town of Oetz itself to the building that is hundreds of years old, I feel like I am stepping back in time, but in a good way. I truly felt literally at home here. The welcome could not have been friendlier, and all the staff were super happy and professional. I only had one night there, but I will try to book more and stay longer on my next European holiday. The room itself was very comfortable, and it even had a Nespresso machine (a novelty in Europe, I noticed). The bathroom was small but perfectly suitable, and the view of the Hausberg was rather lovely. Breakfast is one of the best I had in a long time. Also, they give the summer visitor card (Oetztal Sommer Card) to guests, and that is worth so much more. It is a Breakfast-only place but there are plenty of restaurants nearby. There is a drinks fridge where guests can help themselves and keep a list of their purchases and sort it at the end of the stay. Overall, it is one of the best places I stayed in my 9 weeks in Europe, and that is saying something:-)
There was nothing that I did not like

Verified reviewThe atmosphere was great. George & Andy were superb hosts (only 30 years since I worked with them) 🤩 Breakfast was fab every day too and we liked the honesty bar system with outdoor seating area! 😁 Sauna facility and chilling room top notch….
Only one minor thing, our room needed a mirror. The bathroom mirror was too far away from the plug socket, so we could not see what we were doing!!! 😆

Verified reviewGeorg is a fantastic host, he makes you feel as you're part of his family. He welcomed us with a drink, and spent time explaining everything about the Gasthof and the area. He recommended a walk to a nearby lake. Breakfast is superb, and the sauna house in an old barn is just amazing. Private parking is available. The inn itself is incredible, with old furniture and a unique charm. And to top it off, the Oetz Summer Card is an appreciated bonus!
Our bathroom was a bit old fashioned, but compared to the quality of the hotel, this is a detail

Verified reviewGeorge was the ultimate host. Explains everything, answers every question, advises about the route, weather, etc. Gives the Emek Otz summer ticket at no additional cost. Which gives free entry to most petitions in the valley. The room was new after renovation, clean and tidy. It's just fun to stay in a place like this.
Everything was perfect

Verified reviewReally heartly host, Georg, that makes it unique in a a really old buildung, full of history and stories! So if you like to feel the timelime from the middle age to now in a valley of the alps - u r rigt! (A bit like an old monestary). The hoster is also quite helpful an casual in going on with you. Breakfast is top of the mountains as well!
Ok, to be honestly the plumbing unit is not really nice. For tall people its a bit small on a bit corners. You also must now, its a building of history.

Verified reviewHost was great and very accommodating. Great breakfast. Gasthof zum Stern is in the middle of the older part of Oetz, feels like you are in a real Austrian village and not in some ski resort. The guesthouse has a lot of history with charming details and nice modern upgrades. Would stay here again.

Verified reviewWe had a fabulous weeks skiing & staying in the beautiful Gasthof zum Stern. I can't express enough how hospitable Georg & Andy were, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was beautiful and everything was impeccably clean. There is an amazing modern spa/sauna area and some of you Brits will be pleased to hear you don't have to strip off if you're not comfortable with it. Breakfast was fresh & plentiful and Andy cooked us amazing bacon and eggs. They have an honesty bar and on some evenings we returned from skiing and joined Georg, Andy and other guests for drinks at the bar, the schnapps were flowing and everyone was extremely friendly. Thanks Georg & Andy for making us so welcome. We miss you and will definitely be back to stay again. Sadie & Kevin X
We couldn't fault our stay, everything was great.

Verified reviewThe host is a wonderful person. You feel at home from the fist minute after arrival. You can forget about any problems, logistics and other things. Just relax and have fun. Sauna Is great, rooms are super clean! breakfast is very good. Not a biggest choice you have ever seen (no vegetables at the time) but the things they serve are top quality. (You have to taste scrambled eggs with bacon - speck.). Room we had was not modern, but it was very comfortable.
Nothing, You can be closer to the cable car, you can have better view or more modern room. But you can't buy a host for any money. And Georg is worth millions. He makes you feel really welcome1
