How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIn a 1980's time warp, but charming and clean. Truly spectacular view all around. Ten minute drive to Fussen.
No very nearby places to eat, but there are some in Reutte.

Verified reviewExcellent alternative for hotel on the German site, especially for late arrivals.
It's a standard hotel as many in this part of the world, well maintained, but built some years ago. So, nothing wrong, just outdated.

Verified reviewCute little town in a mountain pass, close to a few touristy places we wanted to explore but in a quieter location. Parking on site.

Verified reviewQuiet and calm region. Very close to the castles.
Small room, miniature bathroom, no air conditioner (it was cold in the room). Firm beds.

Verified reviewWas close-ish to the Castles. Surrounding scenery is nice. Gentleman at check out was pleasant.
We were ranted at in German by some woman 30 seconds after parking in their gravel car park (with no marked bays). We had pulled up close to the key boxes to get our key as it was raining - there’s no shelter at the key boxes whatsoever. Left a VERY sour taste…. No ‘Hello’, no ‘Welcome’, no introduction at all. She needs a serious attitude adjustment - Talk about alienating your paying guests! Upon departure - Noted that another car had parked overnight in the exact same spot we had stopped in??

Verified reviewThe location is stunningly beautiful, with a view of the mountains. The building is well-maintained. The room and bath were very clean, with a lovely balcony on which to admire the surroundings. We were looking for a place close to Neuschwanstein Castle. Although this was in Austria, it was close, with no border crossing problems back and forth. We had a unique, fun room on the 3rd floor of a pretty annex building, just across the street. Park next to the main building and be sure to follow parking guidelines (a big diagram on the barn above the parking.) Absolutely beautiful location! Vielen Dank!
We had to do self check-in, which was fully explained by the host via our Booking.com messages. We got a key from a lock box in front of the main house. It was pouring rain, so getting the key and walking to the annex building with our bags (no parking there), then carrying them to the 3rd floor when wet was a little unwelcoming. No elevator. No A/C, but we were able to leave the balcony door open. No screens. One agile fly. The neighbors were smoking on their balcony, and it was blowing in our room. Toilet was running when we awoke, but no fix available before we left as the host was busy with morning duties, and we understood. It is a truly lovely place, but we felt distant from the host. Overall, it is worth the price and location.

Verified reviewRoom and facilities are clean. The one staff person we met at the desk in the morning was friendly and helppful. Very simple breakfast of yogurt and ceral was sufficient.
The room was too warm at night with no aircon or even a fan. We had to leave the window open but it was stiil too warm even without the blanket and invited the mosquitos into the room. Considering the cost, the lack of a European breakfadst with at least some meat, cheese, brotchen, and the hot room with no fan, i would say that it's not a good value for the money.

Verified reviewWe enjoyed our stay here although it was only for a single night on a road trip. The hotel was easy to find and the room simple to access despite there being no staff on duty until the next morning. The hotel was in a quiet location and we had great views of the surrounding mountains once the heavy rain cleared. There was an honesty bar open in the evening and a basic breakfast available in the morning with coffee, tea, cereals, yogurt and milks. The room was very clean and comfortable and our room also had a table and chairs, perfect for a snack in our room for dinner. Recommended.
A few other options at breakfast would have been good.

Verified reviewThe view rught out our room's window of the Alps was fantastic. The location is in a vary small village, but very close to a town.
The wife didn't like the salf check-in. She's more social than me. The visit was very worth any issue with check in.
